When this bond is tested by behavior problems, illness, injury, or death, they are here to help. 2a Cardiology is dedicated to improving the lives of pets with heart disease. Their service provides compassionate and expert, state-of-the-art treatments to provide the best patient care. 2b Echocardiogram (echo) machine. 3 Neurology offers the latest diagnostics and treatments for neurological conditions such as epilepsy, brain tumors and spinal cord injury in dogs and cats. 4 The Dialysis Service provides supportive treatment for patients with severe kidney disease and offers state-of-the-art treatment for select intoxications and immune-mediated diseases. 5 Internal Medicine diagnoses and treats serious health problems of dogs and cats, such as diabetes, asthma, and infectious disease. Their team also performs endoscopic techniques such as laser lithotripsy of bladder stones. 6 Emergency/Critical Care, comprising the Intensive Care Unit and the Small Animal Emergency Service, assists you and your pimary care veterinarian with emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 7 Anesthesia supports all of the patient care services across the College of Veterinary Medicine, providing anesthesia care to approximately 4,200 large and small animal patients a year. 8a Computed Tomography Unit. 8b Radiology provides advanced diagnostic imaging technology and consultation to the entire hospital using digital X-ray, fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT) (8a), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound. They also provide teleradiology services to veterinarians throughout North Carolina. 9 Small Animal Surgery provides a full range of orthopedic, soft tissue and oncologic surgical services. 10a The Cancer Pathogenesis Poster Hallway displays the work of our third-year students and explains various mechanisms by which cancer can develop, with an emphasis on veterinary species. 10b Oncology provides treatment for all types of cancer using chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. 11 Ophthalmology is dedicated to the care of ocular conditions involving all species of animals, with a primary emphasis on maintaining vision and comfort in order to provide the best quality of life possible. 12 Dermatology diagnostic and treatment expertise for all species, including but not limited to dogs, cats and horses with diseases of the skin and ear. 13 Pharmacy dispenses medications for all species of animals, compounds drugs to make them easier and safer to administer to animal patients and provides consultation to veterinarians to ensure safe and effective drug therapy. TC FRONT NCTA Caisson The NCTA Caisson Unit will be showing some of their team of beautiful Percheron/Morgan horses. Two of the horses in this unit were also on the team that carried President Ronald Reagan’s casket. 1 The Family & Community Service supports the human-animal bond between people and their animals. When this bond is tested by behavior problems, illness, injury, or death, they are here to help.

2a Cardiology is dedicated to improving the lives of pets with heart disease. Their service provides compassionate and expert, state-of-the-art treatments to provide the best patient care.

2b Echocardiogram (echo) machine.

3 Neurology offers the latest diagnostics and treatments for neurological conditions such as epilepsy, brain tumors and spinal cord injury in dogs and cats.

1 Library: Come draw your favorite animal, relax and enjoy animal books or videos on care and training, observe a 3D printer in action, or explore virtual horse or dog anatomy.

2 Green Commons: The Surgery Club hosts the Teddy Bear Clinic where a future veterinarian will stitch up your teddy bear’s wounds. Let the Class of 2019 and 2020 teach you about heartworms and common toxic agents. Our Pathology Club will show you the damage that these can cause.

3 Main Hallway: Learn how human and veterinary medicine and research complement one another by visiting our Laboratory Animal Club booth. Visit with other student clubs and learn about international travel, business, diversity, holistic medicine, and volunteer opportunities in veterinary medicine.

5 Blue Commons: Step right up to get your face painted($) by a talented DVM student! Learn about the DVM admission process and the importance of diversity and inclusion at NC State

and in the veterinary field. Talk to members of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) about undergraduate opportunities that prepare students for vet school and Veterinary Professions Advising Center(VetPAC) representatives about how to be a unique and competitive applicant.

6 Outside North Theater: Meet our business-savvy vet students who represent the VBMA organization and spin their wheel to win cool prizes!

7 North Theater: 10:00 & 1:00 Live Surgical Demonstrations broadcast from surgery.11:00 & 2:00 Admissions Information Session for interested students and

families. (Streamed live from South Theater)

8 Outside Corral: Mare and foal on view all day with physical exam demonstrations every 30 minutes from 10:00- 2:30 by the Equine Club members.

9 Milking Parlor: See the source of your milk, cheese, yogurt, and ice cream. 10:00, 11:30, 1:00- Automatic milking system demonstrations.

10 Dining Area: Indoor seating and tables where you can take a break or sit down to eat your Food Truck goodies. Purchase some Howling Cow Ice Cream for dessert! Water and juice will also be available at our concessions stand ($).

11 Outside Dining Area: Food Trucks and hand-washing stations. Menus posted in dining area.

12 Anatomy Lab: Meet first year students (Class of 2022) and check out awesome animal skeletons and models. Participate in the scavenger hunt to be entered to win some cool prizes!

13 Top of Stairs: Learn how to decipher a pet food label with the Nutrition Club. and learn about the importance of nutrition for your pet with the Nutrition Service.

14 Firestone Hall of Discovery: Learn about “A Mission for Molly” and Canine Epilepsy Research.

Take part in a “mini” trial with the Clinical Studies Core and learn how you and your pet can make a difference for all. Explore veterinary professional careers with the North Carolina Association of Veterinary Technicians. Learn what hemostasis is, and why it matters to your pet, with the Hemostasis Lab.

15 Animal Hearts: Learn how hearts function and how they differ between different types of animals. Listen to the heart sounds of a human, dog, and a horse. Made possible through a donation from Betty Hunt.

16 Kids 4 Critters: Kids are the key to teaching responsibility towards animals- come learn from these volunteers!17 Upper Walkway: Live Surgical Demonstrations broadcast: 10:00 & 1:00.18 Room D236: Meet the Wildlife, Avian, Aquatic and Zoological Medicine Club (WAAZM) and

get up close with native wildlife such as turtles, snakes, and lizards. You can also learn about our Wolfpack.

19 Room D232: Learn about our Exotic Animal Service who specialize in invertebrates, fishes, amphibians, and reptiles. Meet our Turtle Rescue Team! They rescue and rehabilitate over 300 turtles a year!

20 Gait Analysis Lab: Learn how researchers evaluate movement in animals and exploreconditions like arthritis and pain response-walk across a pressure mat and see your steps in action! Talk with experts in the field of animal movement and more!

21 Conference Room: Learn about our General Practice Service. Talk to the Companion Animal Wellness club about wellness and preventative care.

22 Conference Room: Learn about ways to enrich your pet’s environment with the Behavioral Service and Behavior Club students.23 Health Center Hallway: Learn about keeping you pet’s teeth healthy from Dentistry and about

our Blood Bank. Enjoy the Purebred Show Cats and learn about feline medicine from the Feline Club and Shelter Medicine Club.

24 Simulation Lab (SimLab): See how vet students learn hands-on skills. They practice clinical procedures and surgery (such as blood draws, suturing, catheter placement) using a large variety of models. You too can practice; use your hands instead of your eyes to identify objects in our lab! First aid/ stabilization on the critical care demos on dog model at 10:00, 12:00 & 2:00

25 NC State Veterinary MRI: : See one of the few animal MRI units in the country.26 Radiology Room: Learn what Equine and Farm Animal Services offer patients.27 Breezeway: Learn how the CVM helps veterinarians care for North Carolina’s poultry, swine,

cattle, sheep and goats and get up close with our own farm animals. Learn about the many equine services provided by the Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Center (EFAVC). Play a game with the Therio Club to match a baby animal to its parents. Wash your hands and learn about the transmission of diseases from our Public Health Club.
