Scopus®

Relevant, accurate search results are an essential first step to uncovering trends, discovering sources and collaborators, and building further insights.

Scopus creates unique identifiers for each author and institutional affiliation to distinguish between researchers with similar names, and links IDs to publications – ensuring quick and seamless discovery of the content you need to jump-start your research.

Elsevier Fingerprint Engine®

A back-end software system, the Elsevier Fingerprint Engine mines the text of scientific documents – publication abstracts, funding announcements and awards, project summaries, patents, proposals/applications, and other sources – to create an index of weighted terms which defines the text, known as a Fingerprint visualization.

By aggregating and comparing Fingerprint indices, the Elsevier Fingerprint Engine enables institutions to look beyond metadata and expose valuable connections among people, publications, funding opportunities and ideas.

In today’s competitive environment, institutions are under increased pressure to demonstrate the value and impact of their research. Collaboration, both cross-institutional and with industry partners, not only increases researcher and institutional visibility; research has shown that institutions with more partners, and those with more diverse collaborations, have higher citation rates1. The rich functionality of Elsevier’s Research Intelligence portfolio helps you quickly identify collaborators from across disciplines, thus facilitating more effective and productive partnerships.

Powered by data from Scopus, the broadest source of global scientific research, and the Elsevier Fingerprint Engine, Elsevier’s Research Intelligence portfolio allows you to:

• Identify current and discover potential collaborators

• Provide data-driven analysis of collaborative behavior and impact

• Deliver insight into how institutions can facilitate more powerful collaborations

2Barriers to Organized Interdisciplinary Research in a University Environment. In R. Rustum (Ed.), The Interdisciplinary Imperative: Interactive Research And Education, Still An Elusive Goal In Academia. Lincoln: Writers Club Press.

“...society’s problems do not fit neatly into the University’s departmental grid, nor are they rapidly divisible into subproblems...interdisciplinary research teams can readily respond to multi-discipline, problem-oriented research and public service opportunities.”

Collaborate with colleagues worldwideCreate a new group dedicated to your topic and invite colleagues from all over the world to join. You can also create Private Groups that are only visible to invited members, letting you share information securely. Groups make it easier to discover ideas and inspire new ones.

Engage in interesting discussionsConnect with like-minded researchers in institutions around the world so that you can combine your knowledge and find new avenues for research.

Curate and share reading listsYou can browse other members’ public reading lists to discover relevant content. You can also review articles with your collaborators. When a group member adds a note/highlight/summary to a document, the edit is visible to all members of the group.
