IGHLIGHT NOTICE FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT – RESEARCH

NETWORKING SCHEME

Arts and Humanities Research Council

Description: The Arts and Humanities Research Council, under its research networking scheme, invites applications for the highlight notice for international development. This aims to encourage research networking proposals which explore the contribution that arts and humanities research can play in debates about international development and to the UN 2030 agenda for sustainable development. It also seeks to support the development of international boundary crossing collaborations with countries which receive Official Development Assistance (ODA) or with organisations which play an important role in supporting international development. Proposals must be led by a UK principal investigator and principal investigators must come from a discipline in the arts and humanities. Only one co-investigator is permissible; international co-investigators are eligible under this scheme. In addition to these ordinary requirements for the research networking scheme, proposals under the highlight notice must demonstrate support for the development of significant collaborations with researchers or non-academic partners in at least one of the 146 countries which are ODA recipients, or with relevant international organisations with remits that include supporting development in ODA recipient countries. These could be overseas academic co-investigators, project partners or project collaborators as appropriate but should play a significant role in the development of the network beyond participation in events.

Grants are worth up to £30,000 each over two years. An additional £15,000 full economic cost may be provided to cover the costs of any international participants or activities in addition to the scheme limit. Closing date: 31 May 16 Deadline information: Applications due by 12 midnight. Proposals relevant to this notice will be accepted after the deadline but will not be eligible for supplementary funding or have an increased chance of funding.
