Introduction Luigi’s Italiano is in need of a new Point of

Sale (POS) system. This hometown Italian bistro is serving more and more customers every day and needs to become more efficient to increase revenue and productivity.

Apple offers the iPad that carries a state of the art POS system. ShopKeep software can be used to create and manage all types of POS systems for any corporation.

Multiple restaurants in our area, that we compete with, have switched to this system and we must do the same to stay competitive.

What is a POS system? A system most often used

in restaurants and hotels where a computer is linked with a cash register.

In restaurants they are best used to submit orders to the kitchen in an efficient manor.

In addition, they can be used to accept credit cards, record transactions, track inventory and manage payroll.

Benefits of iPad POSLower start up costs. A

standard POS costs between $15,000 and $20,000 while an iPad tablet system costs between $2,000 and 5,000 (Moxon).

Highly portable and run off of a wireless connection inside the restaurant.

Gets rid of lines at normal POS terminals (Moxon).

Orders will be sent to the kitchen directly from the table (Moxon). This will help avoid any errors that are sent to the kitchen.

Benefits of iPad POS (cont.)Servers will be able to connect

their iPad to a cash drawer as well as run credit cards directly at the table (Moxon).

Guests will have the choice of going green where they can have their receipt e-mailed to them instead of having a printed copy brought to the table (Moxon).

Management’s job will also be made much easier with the ability to manage inventory, generate reports and manage pay roll from these handheld devices (Moxon).

ConclusionBased on our research, I strongly believe that

investing in Apple iPads would be a highly beneficial choice for Luigi’s Italiano. It will increase profits, efficiency of work and will lead to better company morale among our staff. iPad POS systems have been installed in our competition’s restaurants and have resulted in success. In order to stay competitive and continue to grow as a corporation we should do the same. Apple is a successful company itself and is growing at a steady and fast rate so we should invest in their software now.
