Reset Windows Administrator password using Hiren Boot CD

Prerequisites
Different Working Computer with CD/DVD Writer(Windows Vista and Earlier)
2 empty CD/DVD if Optical Disc is the preferred method
USB Port and a USB Flash drive if customer doesn’t have CD/DVD writer or disc
Caution: There are two different versions of Hiren’s boot CD in Skydrive and Google
drive. Please download Hiren's.BootCD.15.2 - Password reset edition v 2.iso.
Step1: Remote Support Technician

Alternative resolution for customers who do not have a different computer (Applies Only to
Windows 7 and later)
Use Windows Disc Image Burner to Burn the ISO to Disc.
Burn the disc using Lowest Speeds Possible.
Step2:
Instructions for Voice Technician Instructions can also be provided by Remote Support technician if customer has a different
working computer.
Boot the computer from CD/DVD or USB Flash Drive
Common Function Keys - (F10, F11, F12, F9and F8)
Select USB Drive or CD/DVD Drive using arrow keys and Press Enter Key
Select Mini Windows XP from Hiren’s BootCD Boot Menu
Wait for the Live CD to load
Commands have been set to automatically find, backup and replace a file in Windows
installation folder.
Network setup in the Live CD will be initiated by default to ensure that we can access the
computer in case the commands fail.
Once the required files are copied to Windows Installation folder, disk will be ejected and
computer will reboot automatically
If the commands fail to execute automatically click here for alternative resolution.
Keep the customer informed to ignore any No disk errors that may occur as disk is ejected
automatically once files are copied.
Ensure that disk/USB is ejected and removed from tray or port.
In the Windows Logon screen ask the customer to press Windows Key+U or click on
accessibility icon to initiate the administrator account creation process.
Accessibility icon is available in Vista and Later version of windows for Windows XP Press
Windows Key+U
Accessibility center is replaced with the executable file to create a user account and set
auto logon for OTS user account. User account will be automatically created and Hidden
administrator account will be enabled by default.
Computer will automatically reboot once command is executed
Computer is set to automatically login to OTS user account and open
http://www.Omnitechsupport.com/cc webpage.
However, if it fails for any reasons ask the customer to login to OTS User account, Password
for OTS account is omnitech123 also; provide the required information to get the customer
connected.
Remove the password
Open Run Prompt (Windows Key+R)
Type Control and Press Enter
Select user accounts
Click on Manage another accounts (Change an Account in Windows XP)
Select the User account to remove Password
Click on Remove the Password
Delete OTS account once you have reset the password

Alternative troubleshooting
Wait for the PEnetwork Manager to open automatically after Network connection is
established.
Confirm the state of Internet Connectivity with the customer.
- Connected to the Internet
Once customer confirms that computer is connected to Internet Close PE Network manager
window and Click on OmniTech HELP icon on the desktop to initiate HELP icon setup
Click on Next
Click on Next
Click on Finish After Installation is completed.
Wait for LogMeIn Calling Card tool to check for updates
Click on Continue after LogMeIn updates check is finished
Provide required Information for the customer to enter in the LogMeIn Calling Card tool
and ask the customer to Click on Connect.
You May also Use OmniTech LMI Shortcut to connect the customer through Browser if
CallingCard installation failed for any reason.
Keep the customer informed to ignore the Following error
OmniTech Support Calling Card Link will automatically open in the browser.
Create User account
Right Click on Hiren Boot tools tray Icon
Select Passwords/Keys
Click on Windows Login
Select Password Renew (Reset User Password – NOT 4 Vista/7 64 Bit)
Click on Select a Target
Select Operating system Installation Drive (Which Contains Windows and Program
Files Folders etc…)
Select Windows Folder
Click on OK
Creating New Administrator Account
Click on Create a New administrator User
Type “OmniTech” in Username Field(Without Quotes)
Click on Apply
Click on Create a New administrator User
Type “OmniTech1” in Username Field(Without Quotes)
Click on Apply
Ask the Customer to get connected in Normal Mode. Keep the customers informed about
logging in to OmniTech User account and provide necessary information to get connected
to us.
Remove the password
Open Run Prompt (Windows Key+R)
Type Control and Press Enter
Select user accounts
Click on Manage another accounts (Change an Account in Windows XP)
Select the User account to remove Password
Click on Remove the Password
Delete OTS account once you have reset the password

Troubleshooting steps to create Bootable USB Drive
Download Universal USB installer from OmniTech Sky Drive
File Name – Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.3.5.exe

Click on Browse and Select Hiren boot cd ISO file
Select the Flash drive’s drive letter and check Format
Caution: This will erase all the content in the Flash drive.
Click on Create
