Residence Permit Extension For Degree Seeking Graduate Students
Dear Student,
• If you continue your studies more than the expiration date of yourcard, then you have to extent your residence permit.
• Please be aware that extension application is fully yourresponsibility.
• You have to make yourself familiar with the extension process fromthe Immigration Office web page and apply for extension before yourresidence permit expires. If you do not do so, you will face penaltiesand even deportation.
• Therefore, we suggest that you add your expiration date to yourpersonal calendar and make sure to get a reminder at least 2 monthsin advance.
• You have to make your extension application before the expirationdate.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Apply online at https//e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr
• In order to avoid any technical difficulties on the website regardingyour application, we advise you to do your application under theTurkish version of the Extension Application.
2. Please select the green box• Pink box: “I want to make first residence permit application”• Green box: “I want to make an extension”• Orange box: “I want to make a transfer application”
3. Select the First Box: “I want to start my extension application”
4. Please, fill in the blanks.• All fields marked with red are mandatory.• “İkamet İlimi değiştirmek istiyorum”: Select “Hayır” (No)• “Adınızın ilk iki harfi”: Type your first two letter of your first name.• “Soyadınızın ilk iki harfi”: Type your first two letter of your last
name.• “Vatandaşı olduğunuz ülke”: Select your nationality.• Enter the Foreign ID number you have on your residence permit
card.• If you have your own mobile number, select “Cep Telefonu” as a
contact option. You can select e-mail address, if you don’t have amobile number available.
• Make sure that you entered the contact information correctly.• Click the confirmation box.• Enter the characters you see in the image to the space near the
image.• Click “Devam Et” >>
5. After filling out the information, the system will directyou to activation page.
• You will receive SMS or an e-mail with a verificationcode and application number.
• Check your inbox.• Enter the verification code.• If you don’t receive any SMS or e-mail click “Tekrar
doğrulama kodu gönder” (Send a new code)

6. Please, fill in the blanks and upload your biometric photo.• All fields marked with red are mandatory• Skip the fields with black titles.• Make sure that the information you type is exactly the same as

Passport)• “Düzenlenme Tarihi”: Enter issue date of your current passport
(Day/Month/Year) If you renewed your passport and have never travelled with your new passport, enter your previous passport’s issue date.
• “Geçerlilik Tarihi” : Enter expire date of your current passport• “Belge No”: Enter your current passport number.

If your passport contains letters and numbers write them together.
If you have used your new passport while entering Turkey, use your new passport information.

11. Enter your contact information in Turkey.• Enter the campus address as your contact address in order to receive
your card safely (even if you are staying at an address other thancampus)
• “İl” (City) : Select “İstanbul”• “İlçe” (Province): Select “Tuzla”• “Mahalle” (District): Select “Orta Mahallesi”• “Cadde” (Street): Select “Üniversite Caddesi”• “Bina” (Number): Select “27A”• “Bağımsız Bölüm” (Independent Section) : Select “1”• “Telefon 1”: Enter your mobile number without a leading zero.• “E-posta”: Enter your Sabancı University e-mail address.• Click “İleri” >>
Enter the correct mobile number on the online application form. When your extension application is approved, you will receive a approval SMS from theImmigration office. After this message your residence permit card will be delivered to your contact address. We strongly suggest you to enter the campusaddress.
Once your card arrives to the campus, a notification e-mail will ben sent to your Sabancı account. After you receive the e-mail you should pick up your cardfrom the Communication Center within 2 weeks. If not, your card will be sent back to the immigration administration located in Fatih/ Istanbul. Thus, pleasecheck your e-mails regularly.
12. “Durum” (Work ): Select “Çalışmıyor” (means “not working”) and skip the other fields.

14. Fill out the information about current study at SabancıUniversity• “Öğrenim Durumu”: Select your degree
- “Lisans” for Undergraduate- “Yüksek lisans” for Master- “Doktora” for PhD- “Değişim” for Exchange or Erasmus
• “Sınıf”: Select your grade (1, 2, 3 etc. and“Hazırlık” forfoundation development year.)
• “Öğrenci No”: Enter your student ID number.• “Okul Türü”: Select school type as “Vakıf” (Foundation
University)• “Öğrenim Başlangıç Tarihi”: Enter your enrollment date.
You can find it on your student certificate.• “Öğrenim Bitiş Tarihi”: Enter your expected graduation
date.Select the address information according to the table left.(İstanbul, Tuzla, Orta Mahallesi, Üniversite Caddesi, 27 A, 1)
• Click “İleri”>>
15. Select “Gelir Durumu” (Income Status) as “Geliri yok”(no income)

16. “Sağlık Sigortası Türü” (Type of Health Insurance):Select “SGK-Genel Sağlık Sigortası” and skip the page.
• Click “ileri”>>
17. Tick all the red boxes ( except 6th box:“Başvuru tarihinden itibaren 3 ayiçinde sağlık sigortası yaptıracağımı beyan ederim” )
• Skip the black boxes.
• Click “İleri”>>
18. Fill out this page carefully.
• “Kalış nedeni” (Reason for stay):Select your degree;
• “Lisans” for undergraduate• “Yüksek Lisans” for master• “Doktora” for PhD
• “Talep Edilen Süre” (Requested period for residencepermit): Type the requested time as number, thenselect• “yıl” for year• “ay” for month• “gün” for day
Requested period should be until your study period,HOWEVER if your passport is expiring before yourestimated graduation, you need to set the date for 60days prior to the expiry date.• “Talep Edilen Başlangıç Tarihi” (Requested Start Date of
your new residence permit): You may enter one dayafter your current residence permit expire date.
Tick the confirmation box and click “Tamamla” (Completethe application) button.
• 19. After completing your registration, the system willdirect you to the main page. In order to complete yourapplication please follow the instructions.
• You should make an appointment in order to downloadyour application pdf document.
• Click “Randevu Talebi Oluştur” (Make Appointment) >>
• Note: If you would like to review or update yourinformation you should click “Update Information”.
• Warning: Once you click “Make appointment” buttonyou cannot edit your information anymore.
20. Select “Sadece kendim için randevu almakistiyorum” (I want to make my appointment formyself)• Enter the characters you see in the image to the
space.• Click “devam et”>>
21. Select any appointment place.
• Select “Fatih..” from the drop-down list.• If “Fatih” is not in the list, select “Pendik”.• If “Pendik” is not in the list, select any.
• IMPORTANT: Since we will submit yourapplication folder to the Immigration Office onyour behalf, your appointment place is notimportant. However, in order to printout yourapplication form, you should make a so-calledappointment.
• NOTE: Appointment date will be sent to yourmobile phone via SMS. Since, you need to submityour documents to IRO, please disregard themessage. You do not have to go to yourappointment.
22. After making appointment the system will direct you to the main page again.
• Click “Kayıt Belgesini Yazdır” to download your application pdf file.
• Do not forget to PRINT OUT YOUR APPLICATION FILE
23. You can make you residence permit card fee payment online. However, since the online payment system doesn’t work properly we strongly suggest you to make your payment to the nearest tax office.
RESIDENCE PERMIT CARD FEE IS CURRENTLY 110 Turkish Lira (Updated in 2020)
After making the payment please keep the receipt to attach your application folder.

days, after making online application.
What are the required documents?

• You have to submit a document (letter of parental consent) written by your parents allowing you to study at Sabancı University and live inTurkey. It should have an Apostille and must be officially translated into Turkish. You should get a true copy of it by notary. If you come from acountry that does not have an Apostille agreement, then you should also get the approval from your consulate in İstanbul and the districtgovernorship in Turkey after getting it translated and approved by notary.

What if my residence card has already expired?
• In case your residence permit expired already and you cannot make the online application (renewal option), you needto apply as a new applicant at the first 10 days after the expiring day of the residence permit that you already have. Sokeep in mind that you cannot apply for Residence Permit Renewal anymore, but for Residence Permit - First Applicationat https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr
If I leave Turkey?
In case you decide to leave Turkey before you receive the residence permit, pleasemake sure that you have your Müracaat Belgesi (Travel Document) with you at theairport that shows you applied for your residence permit.
The Müracaat Belgesi is the approval document of residence permit application.
To take this document, you need to go with your passport to İstanbul ImmigrationOffice and submit it to the ROOM 106 (Student Room) on the first floor. TheImmigration Office might ask for additional information (your application number,old residence permit card, student ID or departure ticket).
Please make sure to get this document 5 days prior to leaving the country.
According to the law, you are not allowed to leave the country more than 15 dayswithout the residence permit.

Leaving Turkey After Graduation And Extending Your Period Of Stay
You can stay in Turkey up to 10 days after you leave university or freeze the term with yourvalid residence permit.
If you will stay more than 10 days after leaving university or freezing the term, you have topay penalty at the airport when you leave Turkey. You can apply for a short-term residencepermit before your residence permit becomes invalid.
If you graduate, your residence permit card is canceled as of your graduation date, even ifthe card’s expiry date shows a later date. You can stay in Turkey 10 days after yourgraduation date. You can apply for a short term residence permit before your residencepermit become invalid. Regarding your graduation date please contact the StudentResources.
If you will do further studies in Turkey, you can apply for student residence permit within90 days.
