It is known as a principality as it is a diarchy headed by two Co-Princes – the Roman Catholic Bishop of Urgell in Spain, and the President of France. In Andorra, immigration and taxes are tightly controlled by the State. Each year, the State publishes the number of people for which immigration to the country would be open. The Principality of Andorra, also called the Principality of the Valleys of Andorra, is a micro independent and sovereign state located in the eastern Pyrenees mountains bordered by Spain and France. Residence for self-employed requirements:

• Buy or establish a company, own more than 10% of it and be an administrator or director

• Obligation to own or rent a property

• Pay monthly to the Social Security (see Investment Requirements below)

Investment requirements:

• The Principality of Andorra requires residents without gainful employment to own or rent a property, invest in the territory and place a deposit with the INAF (Andorran National Institute of Finance)

• Self-employed residents are required to own or rent a property in the territory and pay the fee to the Social Security

Investments:

• For residents without gainful employment: property investment such as purchase of real estate, shares or shares of companies, state bonds or some financial products of Andorran banks with a total value of EUR 400,000 and a deposit of EUR 50,000 to INAF (Andorran National Institute of Finance) plus EUR 10,000 per person. The deposit will be returned when you decide to leave the country.

• For self-employed residents: payment of EUR 400 monthly to the Social Security (with exemptions to the first two years).
