Consultative Organization and in particular Article 47 9

RECALLING that Rule l of the Rules Goveraing Relationship with

Non-Governmental International Organizations requires ·that consultative status

granted by the Council to such organizations shall be subject to .approval by

the h.ssembly,

RECALLING FURTHER that Rule 10 of the same Rules provides for :periodic

review by the Council of the list of non-governmental international

organizations in consultative status with IJYICO and a report to the l:..ssembly

on the continuation of such status,

NOTilTG the Guidelines on the Grant of Consul ta ti Ye Status to

non-governmental organizations as established by the Council ~tits fortieth

session,

Ht::.VING CONSIDERED the decision of the Council to . grant consultative status

to the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (Il'ITERTANKO),

the International Group of P and I l~ssociationa and, on a provisional basis,

to the Association of West European Shipbuilde.rs (f.MES),

Hf.1.VIlTG ACCEPTED the view of the Council that these organizations may

reasonably be expected to make a signifidant contribution to the work of n1co,

Hll. vnrG ALSO CONSIDERED the dat:iisions of the Council to ~ .int~in the gra.'tlt

of consultative status to certain organizations already enjoying that status

with rnrco,

1. ·. APPROVES the ' decision taken by the Council with regard to the 'grant

of consultative status to the International Association of Independent Tanker

Owners, the International Group of P and I .Associations and, on a provisional

basis, to the Association of West European Shipbuildors;

2. El.1DORSES the decisions of the Council regarding the enjoyment of

consultative status by the following organizations:
