Respect & Care Responsibility Inclusion, Tolerance & Understanding Excellence Dear parents, grandparents and friends, Welcome back Welcome back to all of our families for term four! We hope you had an enjoyable break and are ready for a busy term of learning. Our students are engaged in learning and happy to be playing with friends. We have several events to look forward to this term. Most of these are probably going to look different to what we had planned earlier in the year. However, our staff will do their best to ensure that the learning is engaging and there is lots of fun for our students. At this stage, school photos are not allowed to take place. We will be hoping that this restricon changes before our planned photo day in week 6. More informaon to follow. The staggered drop offs and pick ups are going well and will remain in place for the me being. We have been advised that taking student temperatures is not necessary. We do ask that students and staff who are unwell do not aend school. Hope- fully this will help prevent the spread of coughs and colds. While you were awayDuring term three and the holiday period, our accessibility works were completed, with the rubber poured in the front play- ground and gaga pit, ramp and handrails to the art room and playground, as well as some other minor upgrades. We also planted several trees and plants around the perimeter of the school and in the garden near the art room. This garden will have a permanent fence installed next week. Each classroom in the school has an updated classroom library. During term 3, our teachers purchased many new books ready for our students to return to school. Assembly Assemblies will connue on Webex for now, so that students can watch in their own classrooms. Today several students shared their excitement about being back at school. The common thread from Dusn, Arkady, Niamh and Neve was joy in be- ing with their friends, and learning from their teacher in real-life! Dress Up Days- Book Week and Fun Run We have not one, but two dress up days coming up soon! Both of these events were delayed from terms 2 and 3, but luckily, we can sll hold them! Book Week dress up day is Thursday October 22 nd , in week 3. Students can come dressed as a favourite character from any text. Respect & Care Responsibility Inclusion, Tolerance & Understanding Excellence Dear parents, grandparents and friends, Welcome back

Welcome back to all of our families for term four! We hope you had an enjoyable break and are ready for a busy term of

learning. Our students are engaged in learning and happy to be playing with friends. We have several events to look forward

to this term. Most of these are probably going to look different to what we had planned earlier in the year. However, our staff

will do their best to ensure that the learning is engaging and there is lots of fun for our students. At this stage, school photos

are not allowed to take place. We will be hoping that this restriction changes before our planned photo day in week 6. More

information to follow.

The staggered drop offs and pick ups are going well and will remain in place for the time being. We have been advised that

taking student temperatures is not necessary. We do ask that students and staff who are unwell do not attend school. Hope-

fully this will help prevent the spread of coughs and colds.

While you were away…

During term three and the holiday period, our accessibility works were completed, with the rubber poured in the front play-

ground and gaga pit, ramp and handrails to the art room and playground, as well as some other minor upgrades.

We also planted several trees and plants around the perimeter of the school and in the garden near the art room. This garden

will have a permanent fence installed next week.

Each classroom in the school has an updated classroom library. During term 3, our teachers purchased many new books ready

for our students to return to school.

Assembly

Assemblies will continue on Webex for now, so that students can watch in their own classrooms. Today several students

shared their excitement about being back at school. The common thread from Dustin, Arkady, Niamh and Neve was joy in be-

ing with their friends, and learning from their teacher in real-life!

Dress Up Days- Book Week and Fun Run

We have not one, but two dress up days coming up soon! Both of these events were delayed from terms 2 and 3, but luckily,

we can still hold them!

Book Week dress up day is Thursday October 22nd, in week 3. Students can come dressed as a favourite character from any

text. We are sure to see some Dr Seuss and Harry Potter characters, as well as superheroes. There are many books about

sportspeople as well! Students will be involved in a virtual book week incursion with related activities.

Our annual Fun Run is in week 4, on Wednesday October 28th. The theme is “my Favourite”; we made it super simple so that

your child can wear practically anything- favourite colour, sports outfit, costume… Sami and I will come as our favourite char-

acter; the same costume we wear to the Book Week dress up day. Our Fun Run is our biggest fundraiser for the year and will

be held inside our school grounds this year.

Many parents tell us that their child doesn’t say much about school, or when asked

what happened at school today, says “nothing.”

So many things happen during the school day, that it can be difficult for a child to think

of exactly what to talk about. Here are ten great questions to get them talking!

1. What made you smile today?

2. What went well for you today?

3. Can you tell me an example of kindness that you saw/

showed today?

4. Tell me something you learned in Maths today.

5. What feedback did you get from your teacher today?

6. Can you remember one of the learning intentions from to-

day?

7. What made your teacher smile today?

8. If you could change one thing about your day, what would it be?

9. Tell me one thing you know today that you didn’t know yesterday.

10. What kind of person were you today?

Talking with your child about school.

Every Tuesday is “Nude Food” day, where students are encouraged to bring food in reusable containers

or bring snacks that don’t have wrappers at all. The purpose of this initiative is to encourage healthy

eating and to reduce the amount of rubbish in the environment. We are finding that many families have

decided every day is a “Nude Food” day.

Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks and a nutritious lunch to school each day.

All students are asked to bring a water bottle to school every day.

Please ensure that all containers and water bottles are clearly named.

Thank you for your support in helping to make our school a healthy and clean environment for everyone to enjoy.

Congratulations to the 6 students who got a Silver certificate

this week.

Congratulations to Millie and Charlie for both receiving a GOLD

Certificate.

2020 Netbooks

Students at our school in grades 3 to 6 are offered the opportunity to purchase a

netbook. These are usually purchased before beginning of grade 3. The netbooks are used

regularly at school and are able to be taken to and from home.

The form to order the netbook for your child needs to be signed and returned to the office by November

6th 2020. This relates to all students who are currently in Grade two, or those in grade 3 to 6 who do not

have a netbook.

If you need a form please see Vicki or Melissa in the office.

Thanking you, Sam Streeter.
