Application Process

• Kingdom Installation Ltd. carried out 2 successful projects in conjunction with Respond! (46

units in Limerick and Clare and 37 in Sligo in 2014) completing deep retrofit energy upgrade

works, delivering high quality within budget and within the scheme time allowed. As a result,

Respond! were very interested in replicating this success in 3 new projects in the west of

Ireland. 2 of these projects will be completed by the end of October 2015.

• Pre-survey inspections of all properties were carried out.

• Cost analysis of viable energy upgrades were also undertaken.

• Respond!, through their Designated In House Energy Team and an Energy Champion from each

estate, intend to carry out a survey of the upgraded works and will endeavor to collate 12

months of utility bills which will be used to determine the actual savings made. This information

will be made available to SEAI if required.

• The measures selected within the units were specific to the properties involved.

• In all cases the current energy analysis for these buildings were carried out by analysing current

utility bills over a 12 month period.

• Respond! undertook a detailed Condition Survey of all their existing stock and this information

was used to analyse and identify the most suitable upgrade measures for all the units.



Aims of Better Energy Communities Clare Project

• Increase comfort within the units.

• Provide long term sustainable living for existing and prospective residents.

• Reduce fuel and energy costs to a practical and more manageable level to

tenants thus reducing the impact of fuel poverty and ensuring that tenants

can simply afford to live adequately.

• Create energy awareness amongst the residents and the wider community in

order to develop and gain knowledge which will aid in sustaining constant

reductions on energy bills.

• Include Community Facilities which cater for invaluable services and supports

for residents and the wider community.

• Approximately €1m invested

• 14 week timescale for the works

• Projected annual energy savings as a result of the upgrading works is €110,000

• Projected annual energy savings for the entire works - 900,000kWh
