Frekuensi
• Bilangan Kompleks: review singkat
• Respons Frekuensi sistem orde 1 linier tak berubah terhadap waktu
• Plot Bode; Decibel; Breakpoint/corner frequencies
• Respons frekuensi sistem orde 2 linier tak berubah terhadap waktu
• Respons freekuensi sistem dengan redaman kecil
Respons Frekuensi
• Nyatakan perilaku steady-state suatu sistem terhadap eksitasi harmonik untuk suatu jangkauan frekuensi input tertentu
• Contoh eksitasi sinusoida– Tegangan AC pada 50 Hz
– Memutar massa tak balans: roda, mesin perkakas, kipas angin
F(t) = mu ω2sin ωt

– Rasio amplitudo output tunak sistem terhadap fungsi gaya;
– Perbedaan phasa antara sinyal input dan output.
Respons Frekuensi• Untuk sistem linier tak berubah terhadap
waktu
– Respons tunak akan berupa sinusoida dengan
frekuensi sama
– Dapat dicirikan dengan
• Gain (rasio amplitudo: output/input)
• Sudut Phasa (antara input dengan output)

Menghitung Respons Frekuensi
Langkah:
1. Ganti s = jω pada fungsi transfer T(s)
• T(jω) adalah rasio bilangan kompleks
2. Hitung besar M dari T(jω)
• Ini adalah rasio amplitudo output terhadap
amplitudo input
3. Hitung phasa φ dari T(jω)
• Ini adalah phase output relatif terhadap input

Plot Respons Frekuensi
• Umumnya digunakan skala logaritma– Mudah untuk memanipulasi (plot
tambah/kurang)
– Menampilkan variasi frekuensi yang lebih lebar
• Plot besar Output/Input (M):– Sumbu-Y dinyatakan dalam Decibel
(dB): m=20 log10M
– Sumbu-X dalam log10 ω
• Plot Phasa (φ):– Sumbu-Y menyatakan sudut phasa
skalar
– Sumbu-X dalam log10 ω

Terminologi Respons Frekuensi Orde
Satu
• Observasi– Berlaku sebagai filter low-pass,
mengecilkan amplitudo sinyal frekuensi tinggi

Response to general periodic inputs
(qualitative considerations)
• Based on two key observations:
– Fourier Theorem: any periodic input can be expressed as a sum of a sinusoidals (typically infinite sum…)
– For stable LTI systems, we can rely on the superposition principle and treat each term of the sum independently
Response to general periodic inputs
(qualitative considerations)• Standard Solution Procedure
– Step 1: take the periodic input function f(t) (its half period denoted by p below) and determine its Fourier series expansion (see App.D)
• This amounts to finding the coefficients a1, a2,…, and b1, b2, …
– Step 2: apply the good old frequency response analysis using each term of the sum (one at time): , etc.
• Most of the time, there is an infinite number of terms but only the first terms are typically considered (how many though, it’s problem dependent)
– Step 3: sum up the response due to each of the harmonic inputs• You can do this because the principle of superposition allows you to do so

Concept of filtering 1Two frequencies, a high and a low, are fed to a frequency dependent system
High pass filter High pass filter transmits or passes the high frequencies
Low pass filter transmits, or passes, the low frequenciesLow pass filter
Concept of filtering 1Two frequencies, a high and a low, are fed to a frequency dependent system
Broadband filter Passes all frequencies within a specific range
Resonator Provides magnification to a small range of frequencies
Bandwidth
The range of frequencies over which the
power transmitted or dissipated by the
system is no less than one-half of the
peak power.
10
Bandwidth Example
• Compute the resonant frequency
• What would be the amplitude of the output at resonance
• Generate a Bode plot and confirm your calculations
>> den=[10 30 1000];>> num=100;>> bode(tf(num,den))>> grid
MATLAB
Frequency Response
• Frequency response is the
a) Frequency at which a system responds to an input
b) Transient response of a system to a harmonic input
c) Steady-state response of a system to a harmonic input
d) Total (transient and steady-state) response of a system to a harmonic input
e) All of the above
• Hint: see section 1 (or introduction), of Chap.9
Frequency Response
For high frequencies, the amplitude of the
frequency response will
a) Increase at 20 dB/decade
b) Be a constant
c) Decrease at 20 dB/decade
d) Decrease at 40 dB/decade
e) Impossible to know
Hint: see Table 9.2.1

Damping Ratio
Increasing ζ of a second order system while
leaving ωn unchanged:
a) Reduces the resonant frequency ωr
b) Reduces the response amplitude at resonance
c) Can eliminate resonance
d) Both (a) and (b)
e) All of the above
Hint: see Table 9.2.2
