BackgroundFor a local restaurant business owner, controllingtheir operations remotely had always proved to be achallenge. They had employed a manager to rundaily operations, but accurate and timely reportingwas a challenge with the owner receiving excelreports for limited information.

In addition they did not employee a trained financeperson to manage their accounts or VAT

To improve his operations profitability, service, cashcontrols and reporting, he contacted Simply Solvedto propose a solution.

The ProblemThe owner had several objectives and wanted toimprove the business’s profitability, improve serviceand reduce the number of people handling cash aswell as improve the quality of his reporting. He didnot believe increasing headcount was sustainable, ithelped address some issues but reduced the businessprofitability greatly with additional revenue benefits.Following a review and site visit, we identified somekey issues:

• Limited controls on food pricing & discounts• Customer orders sent to kitchen by written paper

or radio took time and could be inaccurate missingdetails

• Point of Sale system was just used for paymentcollection

• It also did not comply to UAE accounting & Tax andhad poor reporting features

• Cash was handled by several people anduncontrolled
