What is “Web 2.0”?What is “Web 2.0”?Some commonly used Web 2.0
terms: Web 2.0 – So-called “2nd generation” of Internet applications, developed to facilitate communication, collaboration and sharing information online.
Blogs (short for Web logs) - online journals or diaries hosted on a Web site, often distributed to other sites or readers using RSS (see below).
Collective Intelligence Networks - systems that tap the expertise of a group rather than an individual to make decisions.
Mash-ups - aggregations of content from different online sources to create a new service.
Peer-to-Peer Networking (P2P) - sharing files over the Internet or within a closed network.
Podcasts - audio or video recordings, a multimedia form of blog or other content.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) online subscriptions distributing news, blogs or podcasts.
Social Networking - people sharing personal or professional information with each other in online communities.
Social Media - content created using scalable online publishing technologies.
Web Services - software systems that communicate with one another to share information or conduct transactions.
