Discover the Meaning of AlohaYou’ve all heard the word aloha many times –

here at Hualalai, around Hawaii and even back

home on occasion. Here in Hawaii, it’s a word

we use every day for a number of reasons. While

the common use is to greet or say goodbye to

someone, aloha also means peace, love and

a number of other beautiful things.

To truly define the word, it’s helpful to break

it up into its parts:

Alo – Presence

Ha – Divine breath

Among traditional Hawaiians, aloha is often

exchanged upon greeting, by touching foreheads

together, and breathing in each other’s ha, or divine

breath. Essentially, this is a brief exchange of life

and love between two people.

Here at Hualalai, we live aloha every day – with you,

our guests, with each other, and within our community.

This is truly what makes the experience, emotions

and memories here so special, for all of us. Next time

you say aloha, whether here or at home, take joy in

knowing you are sharing life and love. And aloha

cannot be taught, it can only be shared. So please,

pass it along, that’s part of aloha!

Fresh Concept at Hualalai GrilleAlways fun and popular, Hualalai Grille will reopen this

winter with a new sports bar concept. You’ll find several

new TVs to watch your preferred sports games, as well

as pool tables, lounge furniture and a games room.

Chef ’s TableThere’s a lot of talk around the country these days about restaurants using locally grown products.

This has come to be known as the “farm-to-table” movement. It’s a great thing when done well, as it

ensures the freshest ingredients on your plate, while supporting local farmers and the local economy.

Here at Hualalai, our culinary team works with over 160 local farmers on Hawaii’s Big Island, sourcing

everything from vanilla, avocado and ricotta cheese to wild boar, organic grass-fed beef and a plethora

of incredible seafood, including abalone.

There’s nothing that can match the best locally grown products, and we base our culinary philosophy of

seasonal, regional and artisanal food on this premise. As a result, approximately 75% of the ingredients

we use are from right here on our island, direct to your plate. That’s farm-to-table as it was meant to be!

New Menu at Pahu i’a Our acclaimed restaurant continues to evolve with Chef Jacob Anaya at the helm.

Based on your feedback, his latest menu offers less formal dining options. You can

now enjoy shared plates, or just appetizers and a glass of wine. Pahu i’a is still a favorite

for that special meal, yet these alternatives offer improved flexibility and enjoyment

of this spectacular location. Service has been tweaked too, allowing you to determine

the pace and timing of your meal experience.

Pool Perfection – New Ways to Enjoy

New Marine DiscoveryKing’s Pond has been transformed into an educational resource center for learning about the

marine habitat of our coastline. We’ve added daily classes, activities and talks, as well as guided

snorkel tours. We’ve even added a white-sand bottom for better visibility of our more than 1,000

fish. Full food and beverage service is now available too, allowing you to relax even longer in

this truly unique place.

New Lounge at Palm GroveThe new lounge at Palm Grove is an exciting full-service venue to look forward to on your next visit.

Open seasonally beginning this winter, Palm Grove will feature comfortable lounge furniture encircling

the pool and lawn. The addition of a full bar – specializing in “adult” shaved-ice libations – allows you to

enjoy a cool cocktail under the shady palms, while being serenaded by the gentle sounds of the ocean.

What could be more relaxing?
