Merciful Father, You desire the welfare of all your children. Stretch out Your protec ng arm over our men and women in the service. Shield them from every danger to body, mind and soul. Comfort them in loneliness, sustain them in

SUNDAY OF DIVINE MERCY JOINING THE COMPANY OF BELIEVERS
What will help you to believe? Today’s scripture readings tell of faith and doubt. They offer stories “recorded to help you believe,” as the passage from John’s Gospel (20:31) remarks today. There is an urgency about this. On this Second Sunday of Easter we are challenged to join the company of believers—countless men and women who witnessed the power of the apostles’ faith. There is no doubt that this power comes from Jesus Christ. The
First Reading — Brought before the Sanhedrin, the apostles give witness to Jesus Christ. (Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41). Psalm — I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me (Psalm 30). Second Reading — In his vision John sees all in heaven and on earth give honor and glory to the one on the throne and to the Lamb (Revela on 5:11-14). Gospel — Jesus appears to the disciples by the sea of Tiberias (John 21:1-19 [1-14]).
