SCHOLARSHIP: We will be awarding two $500 scholarships to eligible parishioners who complete the application form by May 16th. To be eligible a candidate must be a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace and active in the parish, or active in the church on campus were they go to college. Applications can be picked up at the Parish Office or on the parish website at: https://d2y1pz2y630308.cloudfront.net/13722/documents/2021/3/Scholarship%20Application.pdf To fund these scholarship there will be a second collection the weekend of May 1/2. HELPING HANDS: On Saturday, April 17th it was one year since Helping Hands Ministry pantry started their first drive thru pantry. Since then, we have held the pantry twice a month serving those in the community. We have had 432 household visit the pantry and we have given out a total of 2,198 food boxes to these households. This is pretty amazing and couldn’t have been done without the help of this parish and our community. Thank you if you have donated your time, money or items to help us. The Helping Hands Ministry will have a meeting on May 8th at 9:15am in the parish hall. Please consider coming to this meeting to see what we are about. PRAYER SHAWL: The next meeting will be Saturday, May 1st at 12:00 noon in the church hall. Masks are mandatory. Yarn will be spread out for easy choosing. Please park in back if Helping Hands Ministry is working in front. During the months of March & April, we were blessed to provide 28 prayer shawls, some of which went to Abbewood. If you know of anyone that would benefit from our ministry, please contact the church office. Any questions, please contact Kathy Behlke 440-935-3344, Kathy Smeltz 419-544-2491 or Sue Schniegenberg 440-926-1610. THE GLORY OF GOD The glory of God is humanity fully alive. —St. Irenaeus

PASTOR’S CORNER: Bishop Malesic has granted me the faculties to confirm the candidates who are listed below this Wednesday, April 28th. This is the second year that the bishop has granted permission to pastors to confirm due to the pandemic. I am so honored to be able to confirm this group. This is a great group who are being confirmed and it will be exciting to see how the Holy Spirit will be manifesting itself in them in the years to come! They will need our continued support, however. It is through the support of the community that we develop and share the gifts that God has given to us. It is also in community that we challenge one another to use our gifts. I pray that these candidates will also challenge us to see how the Holy Spirit is manifesting itself in our lives. To those who were instrumental in their faith formation in the classroom and out, thank you. The Confirmation catechists are Jen Filipiak, Mark Hoover and Greg Rowe. However, it was also the catechists over the years who brought them to this point in their faith journey. Parents, family and friends have played a crucial role in their faith formation as they have nurtured the seeds of faith planted at baptism. And of course, to the community who have prayed and supported these young people in various ways. Well done good and faithful servants to everyone who has played a part in the lives of these candidates. The journey is not even close to being over. It will be exciting to see what God has in store for these candidates as well as for all of us through the Spirit dwelling within us. Please keep these candidates in prayer and to congratulate them when you see them:

WOMEN OF FAITH: Women of all ages are welcome to come together and grow spiritually in community. We will gather Sunday, May 2nd at 6:00pm in the Parish Hall. Treat yourself to some time for prayer and reflection to nurture your soul. SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION will be Saturday, May 8th at 10:00am in the parish hall. We will be reading the gospels for the Sundays in the next month which includes the remainder of the Easter season. In reading the gospels we will be listening for the word that God has for us in His Word. We will hear of how the mystery of the Resurrection is unfolded through the weeks of the Easter Season concluding with the Solemnities of the Ascension and Pentecost. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: Confessions will be Saturday, May 8th at 1:30pm. CATHOLIC HOME MISSION: Support the Catholic Home Missions Appeal today! Over 40% of dioceses United States and its territories are considered mission territories, because they are unable to fund essential pastoral activities needed in their communities. Your support funds religious education, seminary formation, lay ministry training, and other programs that build vibrant faith communities right here in the United States. Please be generous.
