beautiful. We would like to extend a special thank you to Father Luke, the choir members, and the bereavement

Prayer to Saint Joseph

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse,

we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the

paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with

your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father,

ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector,

be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our Struggle with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God's Holy Church from the snares

of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may

be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven.

Amen

Prayer for Hurricane Safety

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude. You are still the Master of the land and sea. We live in the shadow of a dan-ger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy and overstep its con-ventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past trag-edies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your son in our behalf, so that spared from the ca-lamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where stormless eternity awaits us. Amen.

Supporting Vocations Supporting vocations: As Catholics, we are called to support and promote vocations to the Priesthood and religious life. One of the many ways is to join the Serra Club. This is an interna-tional organization that centers on supporting not only the seminarians but our priests, deacons and religious. The Serra Club of Lake Charles meets monthly and includes a guest speaker that covers many topics or projects of Catholic interests. If you would like more information on this wonderful or-ganization, please contact Stephanie Kirk at [email protected]; or Nila Hal-loran at [email protected] or 337-802-0883.
