welcome you!

Whether you are

here for a few days,

weeks, or months we

are happy that you

have chosen us to be

your parish away

us who reside here

permanently are few

in number perhaps

fifteen percent of

those who attend our

weekend liturgies.

We are inspired by

the many thousands

who join us in

celebrating Mass,

both on Sunday and

during the week. The

beautiful example of

faith you give us by

your presence

strengthens our

commitment to serve

your spiritual needs.

We especially invite

you to worship

Our Lord in our

Eucharistic Adoration

Chapel located to the

right of the Church as

you leave.

We hope your stay

on our lovely island is

enjoyable, we pray

that your journey

home is safe and we

look forward to your

return visit to us

your parish away

from home.

LENTEN REGULATIONS: FASTING REGULATIONS: GOOD FRIDAY IS A FAST DAY - ONE FULL MEAL IS ALLOWED.

Catholics between the ages of 18 and 60 are obliged to Fast. Two lesser meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken

according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted. Water

should be the drink of the day (not soda, etc) and that desserts would be un-necessary (even at the “full meal”).

ABSTINENCE REGULATIONS: GOOD FRIDAY IS A DAY OF ABSTINENCE. Meats should not be taken at any meal. The law of

abstinence binds all Catholics who are 15 years old and older. It should be noted here that young children, while not obliged to

abstain from eating meat, could most certainly participate in this Lenten observance. Children are usually happy to eat Peanut Butter

and Jelly or Grilled Cheese and the younger we teach them this Lenten Discipline the better.

ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS: In reference to these penitential days, Canon Law states: “On these days (of Penance), the

faithful are in a special manner to devote themselves to prayer, to engage in works of piety and charity, to deny themselves, by

fulfilling their obligations more faithfully and especially by observing the fast and abstinence…”

WORDS FROM OUR LORD ABOUT CONFESSION

from the Diary of Saint Faustina, Missionary of Divine Mercy:

“when you go to confession, to this fountain of My mercy, the Blood and Water which

came forth from My Heart always flows down upon your soul and ennobles it. Every time

you go to confession, immerse yourself entirely in My mercy, with great trust, so that I

may pour the bounty of My grace upon your soul. When you approach the confessional,

know this, that I Myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden by the priest, but I

Myself act in your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy. Tell souls

that from this fount of mercy souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust. If their trust is great,

there is no limit to My generosity. The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always

in poverty and misery, because My grace turns away from them to humble souls (Diary, 1602).”

Place all your hope in the overflowing mercy of Our Lord go to Confession often!

CANON LAW REQUIRES ALL CATHOLICS GO TO CONFESSION AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR.

The Sacrament of CONFESSION is available this week:

after the 8am Mass, Monday & Wednesday; NO Saturday evening confessions this week.

THE 2019 GOAL for the BISHOP’S Annual Appeal is $55,343.

Funds may be given during all of 2019. You may drop your donation or pledge in the collection

OR send it directly to the Diocesan offices in the envelope provided in your mailing.

Thank you.

THURSDAY, April 18 because 5% of the

store’s net sales from that day will be

generously donated to Second Helpings!

Second Helpings’ volunteers will be on hand that

day to educate shoppers of their critical work in

this community. Last Year, Second Helpings brought over 29K pounds of food,

valued at $52K, to Holy Family to give out to local needy families. Whole Food’s

support of Second Helpings is consistent with their mission to help nourish people and the

planet. Whole Foods is located at the Plaza at Shelter Cove on Hilton Head Island.

The financial updates for April 6/7 were

not available for publication at the time of printing.

This data will be updated in the bulletin of April 20/21.

“In the recitation

of the Rosary, the

The Rosary is one
