Blessed Trinity Catholic Church ~ 2 ~ April 17, 2016

Thoughts Worth SharingBy Father Wayne C. Genereux, Pastor

Dear Friends in Christ,His Holiness Pope Francis’

Apostolic Exhortation

Amoris LaetitiaLove in Modern Family Life

Pope Francis’ groundbreaking Apostolic Exhortation concerning two Synods on family life wasreleased on April 8, 2016 in Rome. An Apostolic Exhortation is a type of communication fromthe Pope. It encourages the faithful to live in a particular manner or to do something that is offeredin this case the post synodal documents on Love in Modern Family Life. It is offered to the churchtypically as a summary of the synod hoping the faithful will do something helpful for the life ofthe church.

Pope Francis stated, “All of us are called to keep striving towards something greater than ourselvesand our families, and every family must feel this constant impulse. Let us make this journey asfamilies, let us keep walking together.”

In Amoris Laetitia: On Love in the family, the Holy Father expands on the topics and considerationsfor the two Synods on the family, and adds his own considerations to help us provide pastoralguidance to support and strengthen today’s families.

On Love in the Family guides us through:

Scripture-what we can learn from Biblical families and relationships with God and each other.

Reality-the experiences and challenges we face in today’s world.

Tradition-essential aspects of Church teaching on marriage and families.

Love-what it means for all our relationships.

Ministry-Pope Francis offers pastoral perspectives for helping to build strong families.

Spirituality-the expression of the Gospel message in our relationships.

I am currently waiting for a copy of the Apostolic Exhortation. Once I have had time to read it, Iwill be offering several opportunities for parishioners to meet and discuss this very importantdocument. (Continued next page)

Blessed Trinity Catholic Church ~ 3 ~ April 17, 2016

(Continued from page 2)Seminary Collection May 14 and 15

Bishop Robert N. Lynch has authorized a special collection to help in supporting our seminarians. Theyare the future priests of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. The average cost per seminarian is about $60,000per year. There is a lot that goes into supporting a seminarian. It takes about 8 years of education, roomand board, books, health insurance, auto insurance, and a host of other activities that are a part of hiseducation.

Father Carl Melchoir, the Director of Vocations for our Diocese, will speak at all the Masses on May 14and 15. While APA does support part of the cost, it cannot cover all of it. The Diocese is looking at ashortfall at the end of next year and really needs the full support of the Diocesan parishes. The Diocesewas hoping that Forward in Faith would fund it, but the goals for that campaign did not meet the intendedexpectations.

I encourage everyone to do what you are able. A special envelope is enclosed in your packet of envelopesfor the month of May.

Air Conditioner Update

Our air conditioning system on the right side of the Church is near completion. Phase One is finished, and the new air handler is already in place. All new drain lines, etc., have also been installed. The finalphase should be done over the next several weeks. If you are interested in donating to this project westill have to pay $25,000.00 when the work is completed. We hope to do the left side of the Church in2017.

New Lighting in the ChurchYou may have noticed the Sanctuary now has new lighting. It is now spread from left to right evenly. In the past it had a spotlight effect. The previous system was over 40 years old, and one of the lights wasbroken. They don’t make the original lights anymore. The new system is all LED, and will take lesselectricity to run.

“The disciples were filled with joy and theHoly Spirit.” ~ Acts 13:52

Because the disciples heard Our Lord’s call, they wereable to spread the Gospel message with strength andvitality. We, too, can experience that same joy if we taketime to open our hearts, listen to God, ask for Hisdirection and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our livesand our decisions.
