____________________________________________________ US Commercial Officer’s visit to Pharma City
The US Commercial Officer, Ms. Aileen Crowe
Nandi, visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City
on the 1st of April, 2010. She wished the Pharma
City the best of luck for growth and expansion to
showcase the best that Vizag has to offer.
Minister of Environment & Forests visits the JNPC
Mr. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, the
Minister for Environment and Forests visited the
Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City on 27th of April,
2010. He visited Common effluent treatment
plant, water treatment plant, coastal waste
management project and the commercial area.
Fire Demos at PharmaZell & Vishnu Chemicals
Fire demonstrations were conducted at the Vishnu
Chemicals Unit on the 23rd
of Feb, 2010, and at
PharmaZell on the 6th of March, 2010. The Workers
were explained as to how to deal with the unforeseen
Solvent fire outbreaks. The demonstrations were
performed by the Asian Fire Crew of the JNPC. The workers were trained on fire
outbreaks and first aid of injuries. Training was given on how to operate the fire extinguishers and how to
combat solvent fire outbreaks using foam and fire tenders. About 75 workers from the Vishnu Chemicals
and 60 workers from PharmaZell participated in this demonstration session.

Inauguration of Alkali Metals & Vimal Drugs
The Alkali Metals and Vimal drugs were inaugurated on the 16th and 29
th of March 2010 respectively.
Installation of Fuel Outlet
A fuel outlet is under installation in the services area of the JNPC to cater to the
needs of the member industries.
Formation of JNPC HR Committee A JNPC HR Committee was formed comprising of 9 members representing the various member
industries and the developer. The objective of this committee is to sort out the employment issues of the
project affected and project displaced families. Mr. Narasimha Rao of Aptuit Laurus and Mr. M. Gopal
Rao of M/s. Vishnu Chemicals were elected as the Chairman and the Secretary respectively. Mr. P.
Sudhakar of RPCIL will function as the Convener of the committee.
Industrial Tour to the JNPC
Students from the Engineering colleges at Tuni and Bheemavaram visited the
Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City on the 19th March, 2010. They interacted with the
Manager-PR and the workers at the treatment plants to gain some insights into the
processes adopted.

Mock drill at Vijayasri Organics A Safety training and Mock drill was conducted at M/S
Vijayasree Organics Ltd in the JNPC on 27th April, 2010. Sri
Ramabhadra Raju, Safety Manager of M/S Vijayasree
Organics Ltd, addressed the participants and explained
about Safety training class & Mock drill. All types of
portable Fire Extinguishers operated by team members for training purpose. A total of 79 members
participated in this program.
National Fire Day Celebrations The Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City celebrated the National Fire Celebrations Day on the 14
th of April,
2010. Assistant Commissioner of Police, South Sub division, Mr. B.P.Thirupalu was the chief guest for
the event. The Asian Fire crew demonstrated skills in extinguishing different types of fire accidents and
conducting first aid for the workers involved. An exhibition was organized to create awareness about
the latest developments in the fire fighting and safety equipments.

Solvent recovery plant A solvent recovery plant is being constructed by M/s. Visakha Solvents in
the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharmacity premises. The plant is in the erection
stage.
Appointment of New Executive Director in APIIC Dr. C. Sridhar took charge as the new Executive director at the APIIC from 26
th March, 2010.
Meeting Between the Member Industries, APIIC & Local Politicians
On the 5th and 6
th of March 2010, and 23
rd April, 2010, the
JNPC HR Committee had meetings with the HR
representatives of the a Member industries, JNPC officials
and the Local politicians to discuss the issues of
employment to house/land losers of surrounding villages of Pharma City and pollution problems in and
around Pharma City.
