Why is this important?

REVISION PLAN• How many days have you available? • Not wise to plan to revise for more than 30-40 mins at a time without
a short break • build in some time in which you put revision aside all together• Allocate more days to the subjects in which you are less confident. • You should be doing about 4-5 hours a day initially• Recording your notes on to a tape may be helpful• Relaxation is as important as work and some form of physical
exercise is beneficial. • During your revision read your notes out loud, you are then using
all your senses, sight, sound, hearing( taping is then easy ) and
writing. • Never believe how much your friends
say they are doing.

Last minute revision?
• You must not exhaust yourself so much that you do not do justice to yourself in the examination. If you must do some revision the day before, and it might take your mind off the examination, spend your time recalling the important facts and improving your confidence. At this stage do not try to find things you cannot do.
THE EXAM ITSELF
• Make sure you have all of the materials you need
for the exam • Turn up on time
• READ THE EXAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND COMPLETELY. This may be the most important thing you do. Note how many questions you have to answer and whether there are any limitations on your choice.

Exam consists of section A and Section B. Total time 1.5 hours.
Section A is 15 short answer questions worth 2 marks each
Section B has three longer questions worth 20 marks each
How would you divide your time?
Answer
Take 5 minutes off 90 minutes for reading through the exam. You now have 85 minutes
Section A has a total of 30 marks whereas section B has a total of 60.
Section A allocate 20 minutes in total. You now have 65 minutes left
Section B take 5 minutes to read and decide which question to start answering. You now have 60 minutes.
Allocate 15-17 minutes to each question. After this time stop and move on to the next question.
You will then have a total of 15-9 minutes left at the end to re-read and add answers
Stop when time is up
Do not on any account over-run your time
allocation for each question. It is much better to leave a question unfinished and to start on the next one.
The first few marks on a question are always easier to pick up than the last few. In other words, it is easier to get 10 marks at the start of the next question than to increase your marks from 12 to 17 on the previous question.
THE EXAM ITSELF
Write the answer to the question you feel most confident about first. Getting started and into the swing of writing will steady your nerves. As the answer reels out it will boost your confidence in tackling other questions.
Make sure you tackle the number of questions you are instructed to. Even a poor answer is likely to net a few points; and that may make all the difference to your result.
If, despite this advice, you run out of time you will just have to give an answer in note/bullet form and hope for the best
DON'T PANIC ! Although everyone around you appears to be writing furiously, a much better approach is to keep calm and plan carefully before writing a word of your answer.
THE QUESTION ITSELF
Make a sketch plan of your answer to a question before you start writing. If you have done a number of test problems in revision you should need do no more than sketch a few phrases and words
ANSWER THE QUESTION WHICH IS ASKED. Many students fail because they write perfectly good answers but do not answer the question the examiner has posed.
Leave plenty of space between paragraphs and at the margins of the page so that if, as you review your answer, you find that you want to add something to it, you have space to do so in a way the examiner will be able to understand.
THE EXAM ITSELF
Take a thick black pen into the exam. If you need to delete a word or phrase or even several sentences which you have written down cross through it with the thick black pen.
Don’t bother with tippexing the material out. If the name of something, a topic eludes you, try and bring up an
image of the page of revision notes you made on this topic. Can you see the name on the page?
Don’t spend too long trying to remember. Leave a blank and go on. When it comes to you, go back and write it in.
ABOVE ALL – DO NOT PANIC. YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME. YOU ARE WELL PREPARED. THE EXAMINER IS NOT TRYING TO TRICK YOU. THERE IS NO REASON IN THE WORLD WHY YOU SHOULD NOT DO WELL ON THE EXAM.
