• Largest council in Canada– 7009 Full Time youth (up from 6926: +1%) – 635 Short Term (up from 221)– Total: 7521 Youth up 4%

– 2538 Active registered volunteers (vs. 3603)– ~630 sections in 205 groups

Chinook Council: Our Strategy

Chinook Council aims to grow its membership to more than

10,000 well-rounded youth by 2018 and be recognized as the premier youth adventure organization

in Alberta In support of this, every choice that people within the council make will: • Support the Scout Method, with an emphasis on the outdoors as a key

learning resource• Support the rollout of the Canadian Path, with an focus on youth leadership

and helping adults transition from “leader” to “Scouter”• Measurably improve the quality of our programs & the capability of our

Scouters• Help our organization diversify & support the communities that we work in• Contribute to the sustainability and financial health of our organization at all

levels
