Overview
• Introduction• Power Section• RFID Tags & Reader• Applications• Circuit Discription• Adv. & Dis adv. Of RFID• Initiatives in India on RFID• Future Scope• Conclusion
It is a wireless automatic identification method using Radio Waves.
In RFID, the identification of the user or the object takes place using Radio Frequency Transmissions between RFID Tag and the
Reader
WHAT IS RFID BASED SECURITY SYSTEM?
RFID Tags
• This gathers information about the Tag ID and sends this information to the base station.
• Active Tags :-They contain
battery and have more features
memory & range. • Passive Tags :-They get powered
with reader RF power and hence
need to come very near to reader
to get read.

RFID TAGS
RFID READER
An RFID reader is a device that is used to interrogate an RFID tag
The reader has an antenna that emits radio waves
the tag responds by sending back its data
ACTIVE TAG READER
Applications RFID
• RFID Tags are being used in passports issued by many countries
• Animal Identification
Employee tracking in large organizations
• Tracking of movable assets in offices/institutions
• Tracking of equipments in hospitals• Tracking of cargo in dockyards• Tracking of containers in dockyards
1.Tracking vehicles in parking lots2. Tracking vehicles at the entrances of buildings and organizations.
How RFID different from Bar Codes
• Uses magnetic field to induce current in coupling element
• Current charges the on-tag capacitor that provides operating voltage
• This works only in the near-field of signal – up to c/(2πf) meters
Power section
In this section we used step down transformers of 230v primary to 9v secondary.
The stepped down voltage is then rectified by 4 diodes then it gives i/p to LM7805.
This gives a constant value of 5v DC.
Circuit Discription
To design a RFID Security System There are few steps
That has been performed.• Designing the power supply for the entire
circuitry.• Selection of microcontroller that suits our
application.• Selection of RFID cards and reader.• Selection of 7805(Buffer IC).• Selection of LCD
SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM
Advantages of RFID
• RFID tags are very simple to install/inject inside the body of animals, thus helping to keep a track on them
• Barcode Scannes have repeatedly failed in providing security to gems and jeweleries in shops. But nowadays, RFID tags are placed inside jewelry items and an alarm is installed at the exit doors
• The RFID tags can store data up to 2 KB whereas, the bar code has the ability to read just 10-12 digits
Disadvantages of RFID
• It is difficult for an RFID reader to read the information in case of RFID tags installed in liquids and metal products
• The presence of mobile phone towers has been found to interfere with RFID radio waves
• The USA and Europe, for instance, have different range of frequencies that allow RFID tags to function
Initiatives in India on RFID
Wipro Technologies: Member of the Electronic Product Code (EPC)
Working on pilot projects
TCS: Tied up with Hyderabad University to produce RFID tagged mark sheets & degrees to deter use of fake degree
Delhi Metro: The underground subway or metro system implements RFID ticket coins
Future Scope
The world will be very different once
readers and RFID Tags are everywhere. In an RFID-enhanced future, the
benefits would accrue not just to businesses, but also to consumers.
It has the potential of revolutionizing the way we travel, the way we open the locks of our homes, the way we purchase goods, the way we do business and much more.
Conclusion
• With the help of this project we can allow only the authorized persons using radio waves…..
• In the long run, the RFID technology, when perfected, would eventually be a big help to human
