Similar to a steel ‘I Beam’ where the strength is in theflanges, the bar profile givesaround 25% weight reductionwhile retaining strength.
This design saves not onlyweight, but also material cost and galvanising cost. Savingsare also made in the design ofthe supporting structure forthe grate, as the product is somuch lighter and stress isreduced.

INSTALLATION TOLERANCES Expanded MetalExpanded metal is an economical and versatile material whichcan be used for enclosure, protection, support and decoration.
In the expanding process, expanded metal is made from a solidsingle sheet metal which is slit and stretched longitudinally.There is no weld or join in it, therefore loads are evenlydistributed over a wide area.
The strands and knuckles form a uniform angle, which addsmore strength and rigidity, even if one or more points are cut,the intersections of strand still can support the loads.

Grating Types
I Bar or Flat Bar GratingThe bearing bar comes in the form of an I-Section. This type of grating is used wherehigh strength is required and light weight iscritical. Commonly used for platforms andwalkways.

Serrated Type I Bar GratingThe bearing bar comes in the form of anI-Section with the top surface formed by aseries of notches. In addition to its highstrength and light weight, this type of gratingalso has non-slip characteristics. Serrations arerolled on to meet strict health and safetyrequirements and contain sharp edges. Hotrolled serrations helps stop lacerations ifsomeone falls on the grating.

The ISO 9001:2000 is an international quality management system involving external audits andstringent quality management criteria.
Our factory has high manufacturing tolerances. This is shown in the unique vertical alignment of theload bars resulting in a stronger, better-looking product for our customers.
The standard applicable for galvanising is AS/NZS 4680 – Hot Dip Galvanized (zinc) coatings onfabricated ferrous articles.

1. Field weldingRecommended for all permanentlyinstalled gratings, and for gratingsthat are to be removed only atinfrequent intervals.
2. Fixing ClipThis can be secured quicklyand safely by one man,working from the floor surface
Important note: A minimum of four clips per panel must be used to restrain floorpanels. Where larger panels are to be fixed, it is advisable to useextra clips on any available intermediate supports.
