Rice MBA for Professionals The Rice MBA for Professionals program offers a unique opportunity to earn a degree while continuing to work. The program combines three essential elements: (1) a comprehensive and challenging core curriculum provides you with a solid foundation of basic business disciplines, (2) a required Capstone project that gives students the opportunity to participate in a real-world applied learning activity outside of work and the classroom, and (3) a host of specialized electives in your second year allows you to further integrate your knowledge and empowers you to achieve your career objectives.

Students in the MBA for Professionals program who want to accelerate their careers are able to experience real-time learning and application of concepts learned in the classroom are applied at work the next day.

The Rice MBA for Professionals program accommodates the diverse needs of the working student with different schedules: evening and weekend.

For the MBAP Evening program, students primarily meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and the evening course work comprises approximately two thirds of the total credits. Students will be also required to periodically participate in non Monday-Wednesday coursework. In addition to two Monday through Saturday Immersions, there are approximately nine Saturdays, five Fridays, and two Thursdays over the course of the program. There is a summer break during the months of June and July.

For the MBAP Weekend program, students meet on alternating weekends: Fridays (4:00PM – 9:30PM) and Saturdays (7:30AM – 6:30PM) with a summer break during the months of June and July. As part of this weekend program, we now offer a residency

option for students traveling from outside Houston. Accommodations for Friday and Saturday night are provided by the Renaissance Hotel, Greenway Plaza, located a few miles from campus. Complimentary shuttle service to and from the school is also included. There is an additional cost to take advantage of this weekend residency option.

The Rice MBA for Professionals and the Rice Educational Entrepreneurship Program (REEP) The Jones School offers a compelling MBA program that combines a world-class business school education with an intensive educational entrepreneurship curriculum to equip aspiring K-12 school leaders with exceptional leadership abilities and management principles. The Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP) is a unique leadership education opportunity which provides educators an opportunity to envision, build, and effectively lead positive, achievement-oriented education environments, while joining a powerful network of experienced school administrators that will tremendously impact their future performance.

Whether working in traditional school districts or in public charter schools, REEP seeks students who strive to influence and change the current educational landscape, creating better outcomes for underserved students.

Educators who are interested must apply to both REEP and the Rice MBA for Professionals program.

HOW WILL YOU LEARN? ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Honor Code: Rice has a high trust culture that obligates individuals to preserve our legacy of honor. Developing principled leaders starts on day one. Academic integrity in the form of the Rice Honor Code is presented as soon as a student begins the Rice MBA program. The Jones Graduate School’s challenging curriculum provides its students with not only basic business disciplines but also specialized electives that allow you to further integrate your knowledge and career objectives.

Health Care Specialization Track The specialization track in health care prepares students by providing them with a general business background in health care and also a deep understanding of key topics driving the industry. Students learn management principles and apply them in varied health care settings — such as pharmaceuticals, hospitals, and large and small practices.

Along with the 54 credits MBA for Professionals need to graduate, students in the Health Care Specialization Track will take a total of 15 additional credits (3 required credits and 12 elective credits) to fulfill the requirements. Courses will be offered during the summer and may not be substituted for regular electives.

Highlights of the curriculum include:

U.S. Health Care ManagementIn addition to a general background in health care, students need to understand the current topics

that drive the industry, particularly in the U.S. This course dissects how management principles are interpreted and applied in different health care settings such as pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, group and small practices.

Health Care LeadershipThis course uses a combination of lectures, a health care simulation, and on-site visits to key area organizations, bringing together many of the unique challenges posed to health care practitioners.

Entrepreneurship In BiotechnologyStudents learn an insider’s perspective on the workings and challenges of a new to mid-stage pharmaceutical company. Current company issues and case studies are used to discuss topics including pre-clinical and clinical development, licensing and business development, and intellectual property and patent strategies.

Ibn Sina’s mission is based on providing affordable access to health care for those who would otherwise have none, including the over one million Harris County residents who are currently uninsured. The Rice MBA Capstone student teams understood the spirit of this mission and crafted growth strategies and associated implementation plans that not only provided an actionable blueprint for our expansion plans but also provided professional presentation materials that we used to procure a sizable funding grant from Houston Endowment. Capstone Course The Capstone Course gives MBA students from the Professionals program the opportunity to participate in a real-world applied learning activity outside of work and the traditional classroom. Teams of students are matched with different community organizations in January, and over the semester the teams and their professors develop recommendations that can help community organizations solve critical strategic challenges, such as major growth or expansion plans, organization turnaround strategies, and new ventures by the organization in need of a business plan. The capstone experience brings together multiple functional areas like strategy, finance and marketing to solve a real management problem in an array of industries including nonprofits and governmental entities.

The course is offered during the spring semester. Past cases include local community organizations such as: AAMA, Bering Omega, Collaborative for Children, Healthcare for Homeless, Hermann Park Conservancy, Historic Houston, Ibn Sina, KIPP, Neighborhood Centers, Inc., Passport for Care, Rockwell Foundation, and Shell Center for Sustainability.

M.A. Wright FundDespite a volatile and challenging stock market, the Jones Graduate School of Business’ student-run M.A. Wright Fund continues to generate impressive returns. Comprising students selected through a rigorous application and interview process, the Fund provides them with a hands-on opportunity to learn, develop, and apply effective stock analysis and portfolio management risk and return techniques. This student-run fund was established in 1995 with a generous memorial grant by the M.A. Wright family. The fund’s excess earnings are used to provide endowed scholarships.

The Wright Fund’s home base for investment analysis and performance monitoring is the El Paso Corporation Finance Center located in the Jones School, providing students access to the center’s state-of-the-art research resources and analytical software. Students get hands-on experience using extensive data sources and powerful analytical tools such as Bloomberg, Reuters, @Risk, Research Insight, Crystal Ball, and AFG’s proprietary analytical tools.

Intensive Learning Experience (ILE)The Intensive Learning Experiences (ILEs) are one-or two-day workshops designed to put you in the driver’s seat. Through simulations, business case analysis, and interactive sessions, you and your team will gain experience in organizational management, crisis management, negotiation, and other key leadership skills.

Held after the first term in each semester, the ILEs provide an opportunity for you to apply what you have learned to a real-world scenario.

HOW WILL YOU LEARN? REAL-TIME EDUCATIONYour education does not stop when you leave the classroom. At the Jones Graduate School, Rice MBA students have the chance to venture into areas outside their educational and professional background. Experiential learning through the Capstone Course, the student-run M.A. Wright Fund and Intensive Learning Experience (ILE) all educate by way of direct experience. Rice MBA for Professionals students apply what they’re learning — both in the classroom and in projects — at work the very next day. This is real-time education at its best!

I was interested in the international trip opportunities at the Jones School to see firsthand how companies and individuals conduct business in other countries, especially in emerging markets. During the Rice MBA trip to India we visited the Indian Central Bank and met with several directors to learn about Indian monetary policy — this is an experience I will never forget. Planning for the trip

International TripsEvery year students from the Rice MBA programs may choose to embark on several international trips. Arranged during winter and spring breaks, the different options do not conflict with class schedules.

In keeping with the Jones School’s mission of developing principled, innovative thought leaders in global communities, trips to China, Mexico, Latin America, South America and India remain strategic destinations.

Itineraries include visits to corporate offices, U.S. embassies, and plant sites, as well as alumni and prospective student events. For example, on the China trip, students take mini-courses at Rice’s partner universities, Tongji University and Tsinghua University.

Students make business contacts and learn firsthand about the economic situations in the host country. Past trips have included Mexico City, Guadalajara, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Dubai. This year’s destinations will include Mumbai, Hong Kong and Mexico City.

Before embarking on an international trip, Rice MBA for Professionals students must first arrange leave from work.

Study Abroad Exchange Programs Rice MBA students are able to study abroad for a semester through our partnership with Instituto Centroamericano de Administración de Empresas (INCAE) in Costa Rica or the Escuela de Graduados en Administración y Dirección de Empresas (EGADE)

business school at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). Students who wish to study at EGADE can do so at any of their 33 campuses in Mexico.

Rice MBA for Professionals students are able to participate in an exchange program during their second year and must first arrange leave from work. The exchange programs are one term (six weeks) in length and students typically choose six to nine credits of elective course work. The credits transfer, although grades do not.

As a senior executive in energy, government and banking, Bill engaged at the highest levels of government in the U.S. and abroad to provide geopolitical insights, develop business strategies and advance multi-billion dollar projects. “What most impressed me about the Jones School were the students. They bring extraordinary experience into the classroom. I hope to give them the

perspective of other stakeholders, to help them understand the complex condition of meeting environmental, social and economic requirements, and to recognize the critical dimensions to energy and sustainability.”

Al NapierProfessor of Management Director, Center on the Management of Information Technology Area Coordinator, Entrepreneurship

In 1998, 14 years after he began teaching at the Jones Graduate School, Al Napier had the idea to begin each semester with every student’s name memorized. “I would go into the classroom, ask them to put away their tent cards, and then call every one of them by their first name.”

And he’s done it ever since. “The minute I do that,” he says, “It changes the atmosphere in the classroom. They realize that I know who they are, that I care about them, and that I expect them to be prepared for class.”

Recipient of the 2007 and 2010 Jones School Excellence Award for Teaching, 2011 Alumni Teaching Award for Excellence, and winner of the 2008 Acton Award,

a national honor for excellence in entrepreneurship education, the humble and still-active entrepreneur insists he’s one of the few people in the world who get paid to have fun. “My favorite part about teaching is

seeing a student’s excitement when they realize they could create something of their own — and not have to be tied to a big corporation.”

At the age of 26, with a BA, MBA and PhD all from University of Texas at Austin, Al went to work for Conoco for eight years and then before joining the Jones School, he started and owned a highly successful computer consulting, training and book publishing company that he eventually sold to his business partner after 20 years of operation.

Today he says of his teaching career, “I enjoy having alumni back in class and treating their experiences like a teaching case. They lecture to students who are sitting in the very same seats they sat in. I’m inspired by having a positive impact on people and showing students what they can do and how they can succeed.”

The Jones School’s faculty maintains an important balance between teaching and research. The school’s instructors are either academics with significant business or consulting experience or business executives with significant classroom experience who teach specialized elective courses.

In every course, you’ll have an unparalleled opportunity to work one-on-one with an accessible, involved, and energetic member of the faculty, who believes that current industry knowledge is as critical as textbooks to your education.

Depending on what’s most appropriate for each course, Jones School instructors utilize multiple instructional methods to enhance your learning process—case-method study, analytical and quantitative approaches, lectures and discussions, oral and written reports, theoretical studies, management simulation games, individual study, and teamwork.

Perhaps the most remarkable quality of the Jones School faculty are their open doors. This atmosphere of accessibility pervades classrooms, offices and social gatherings. The faculty are here to teach, research, lead and connect with the students.

Prashant KaleAssociate Professor of Strategic Management

Prashant Kale believes that prospective students should look for the whole learning environment at a school. “I tell my students that the two years you spend here you’re really trying to build a jigsaw puzzle and each course that you complete is really just a piece of the puzzle. So in my course, let’s try to connect the pieces to build the whole puzzle. I consistently drive that point.”

A member of the faculty since 2007, Prashant received the 2009 Rice MBA for Professionals program Teaching Award for Excellence, 2010 Rice MBA Full-Time program Teaching Award for Excellence, and 2011 MBA for Professionals – Weekend Teaching Award for Excellence. “You have to enjoy teaching,” he says. “There is a certain amount of energy that automatically comes into the classroom when you like what you do.”

Prashant knew he wanted to teach since he was young. His mother was an elementary school teacher, and he always believed his dream job would be to teach math to second graders. However, while earning his MBA, he realized there was a way to combine his love of teaching and his love of business — teach at a business school.

He didn’t apply to a PhD program immediately, though. “I felt if I were to teach business, I also needed to work in the world of business so that I better understood it.” He worked seven years before attending The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania for his PhD. After seven years teaching at the Ross School of Business at University of Michigan, the opportunity to grow brought him to Rice.

Prashant found the vibrancy of Houston and the positive environment at the Jones School very attractive. “The Jones School has grown significantly in the last three

or four years and at the same time the bar has been set higher as our faculty has increased and that’s always good for a school. The higher the bar, the stronger everyone becomes.”

Professor Kale has a unique ability to make students think about strategy issues in the real-world in a way that we have not thought previously. He challenges each one of us to critically evaluate our assumptions and to avoid biases in decision making. Time management and focus is the key to success here at the Jones School. SPORTS AND BUSINESS LECTURE SERIES

Highlighting former Rice athletes who have successfully transitioned into business careers, the Rice Sports & Business Series opens its second season with a panel of alumni athletes discussing Athletics and Business, a Long-Term Win.

Moderated by Charlie Pallilo, SportsTalk 790 radio host, this collaboration between Rice Athletics and the Jones Graduate School of Business brings together former Rice athletes Lynn Elsenhans ‘78, Chairman and CEO of Sunoco, Inc.; Sam Reed ‘70, Chairman and CEO of TreeHouse Foods, Inc.; and Jay Collins ‘68 and ‘69 , President, CEO, and director of Oceaneering International, Inc.

This call to conversation examines the unique relationship between sports and business, including how our learned skills transition with us into the working world. From becoming leaders on the playing field to understanding wins and losses, these characteristics contribute to the way in which students develop into professionals and executives after they leave Rice.

Lecture SeriesThe Jones Graduate School offers two different lecture series that bring influential national business people and thought leaders to campus throughout the year. MBA candidates are invited and encouraged to attend these lectures. There is no cost to students to attend Dean’s Lecture Series or Executive Lecture Series events. Students interested in planning and participating in these events can join the Dean’s Lecture Series student club to recruit potential speakers and organize future events.

Partios We offer weekly parties on the patio (Partios), which are social gatherings in the Woodson Courtyard. It’s a comfortable setting for students, faculty, and staff to relax and mingle at an event sponsored by companies recruiting or establishing relationships with the Jones Graduate School and its students. Some of the organizations that have sponsored Partios include: Ernst and Young, El Paso Corporation, ExxonMobil, Kerdock Consulting, Cooper Industries, Chevron and FMC Technologies.

Baker Institute Rice MBA candidates are fortunate to have the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy right beside McNair Hall. The Baker Institute has established itself as one of the leading nonpartisan public policy think tanks in the country since its inception in 1993. In conjunction with its more than 20 programs — including its research, lecture series, events and special projects — the institute attracts many domestic and foreign leaders who provide their views and insights on key issues. Students have the opportunity to attend many of these events.

Student ConferencesAttending conferences is a great way to network, look for new career opportunities and internships, and educate yourself on your options. All students are encouraged to attend any conferences.

The Asian Business Student Association (ABSA) The ABSA at the Jones School strives to enhance the experience of Rice MBA students by providing networking opportunities with the Asian community in Houston and beyond. ABSA also encourages and educates students on the economic environment and business opportunities in Asia.

The National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA)The Jones School not only serves as the national headquarters of NAWMBA, it was the not-for-profit’s first academic sponsor for its 2009 conference. NAWMBA is dedicated to empowering graduate women in business in order to propel more women into leadership positions in corporate America and to enhance the diversity of the nation’s workforce.

The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA)The Jones School was the inaugural academic sponsor of the NSHMBA conference in 2007 and also sponsors the Houston chapter. NSHMBA exists to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development. It works to prepare Hispanics for leadership positions throughout the U.S. so that they can provide the cultural awareness and sensitivity vital in the management of the nation’s diverse workforce.

The National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) The Jones School is a sponsor of the Houston chapter of NBMBAA, a non-profit organization of minority MBAs, business professionals, entrepreneurs and MBA students. With thousands of members worldwide working in both private and public sectors, they share a commitment to education and business—the two principal keys to the economic development of the black community.

I had to be very efficient with my time and learn to balance all of my priorities, professionally and personally, as quickly as possible. I was surprised by the variety of activities available for an MBA for Professionals student. There are student clubs for any area of business that you may want to explore with great opportunities for networking with your peers and

making new business contacts. I found the time to be a member of the Energy, Entrepreneurship and Consulting clubs. I was a volunteer at last year’s Rice Business Plan Competition and was also the secretary for the Jones Student Association. The Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship The Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship is Rice University’s nationally-recognized initiative devoted to the support of technology commercialization, entrepreneurship education, and the launch of technology companies. Unique among many entrepreneurship centers, it was formed as a strategic alliance of three schools: the George R. Brown School of Engineering, the Wiess School of Natural Sciences and the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business.

• To be a catalyst for Houston’s development as a leading center for technology and entrepreneurship in the United States;

• To support technology commercialization and the launch of new technology-based ventures in Houston and Texas;

• To focus on energy, life science, information technology, nanotechnology, engineering, and materials science.

Since its inception in 1999, the Rice Alliance has assisted in the launch of more than 250 start-ups that have raised more than half-a-billion dollars in early stage capital. More than 1,000 companies have presented at the 125-plus programs hosted by the Rice Alliance.

Rice University Business Plan CompetitionThe Rice Business Plan Competition -- the world’s richest and largest -- is hosted and organized by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, which is Rice University’s flagship initiative devoted to the support of entrepreneurship. The competition has grown from nine teams competing for $10,000 in prize money in 2001 to 42 teams from around the world competing for more than $1.3 million in cash and prizes.

Based on their executive summaries, 42 teams were chosen from across the globe to deliver their new technology business plans in six different categories: life sciences, information technology, energy, green tech, social, and other technologies. All teams presented 15-minute business plans and competed in the elevator pitch competition.

In 2011, applications increased more than 20 percent from the previous year. More than 100 corporate and private sponsors support the business plan competition. Venture capitalists and other investors from around the country volunteer their time to judge the competition, with the majority of the 250-plus judges coming from the investment sector. One hundred and twenty past competitors have gone on to successfully launch their business and are still in business today, raising in excess of $337 million in funding and employing more than 600 people.

Case CompetitionsRice MBAs know how to execute under tight deadlines. Nothing quite demonstrates this as clearly as their consistent success in external case competitions, including some of the most highly regarded international case competitions. After only two months of school, a team of first-year Rice MBA for Professionals – Weekend students traveled to Disneyland in October 2009 to present at the final round of the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) Case Competition during NAWMBA’s conference and career fair in Anaheim, California.

“The Rice MBA experience allowed us to step outside our professional and intellectual comfort zones to try something new,” Craig Horak said. “As production superintendent with Occidental Chemical, I applied my engineering background and things I learned in core classes to a marketing case competition.” Equipped with varied backgrounds in engineering, economics and international business, the exuberant team of five included Craig Horak, Bonnie Houston, Leo Maguchi, Aaron Webb and Jason Zengel. It was Leo who proposed the idea over dinner in the Anderson Family Commons in mid September. “Do we want to try this?” The answer was a resounding yes. For Leo, an assistant manager in sales and marketing at Marubeni America Corporation, the value of the experience was in “forming the group and applying what we’d been taught at such an early stage.”

Having already made it through the first two rounds of the competition via email, the team got the call that they’d made it to the finals. “It was a lot of work coordinating our jobs and personal schedules to add extra time for preparation,” said Jason, Group Head, Americas Region at ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company. “But the program had already introduced us to the importance of juggling several things at once so I was excited about the opportunity.”

In the final round, up against five other teams and using the same company and case background material as in the first two rounds, the team had 15 minutes to present their case analysis to a panel of judges and an additional five minutes to answer questions from the panel.

“It was kind of intimidating,” admitted Aaron. “As a sales engineer at Protos, I don’t often get large-venue presentation opportunities so I jumped at the chance. It was an incredible learning experience. I found myself having ‘aha’ moments when something came up in class that we could’ve applied in the competition.”

The group plans to enter at least one more case competition during their second year. “Our approach would be so different this time,” said Bonnie, Project Manager at National Oilwell Varco. “We’d add more quantitative information and restructure our analysis. We will be much better prepared to compete.”

Diversity Inside the ClassroomThe Rice MBA programs take full advantage of our diverse community of students. Although the professors utilize many teaching methods, the team-based learning approach fully encourages animated discussions, innovative solutions and global perspectives. The result is a learning environment that merges unique work experiences, various cultural backgrounds and different life perspectives. Diversity in the classroom opens the doors for the future leaders of this world.

Diversity Outside the Classroom We believe that displays of diversity should not be limited to the classroom. Rice MBA professors and staff have an open-door policy that truly creates a sense of community. The school hosts a vast array of guest speakers and networking events; weekly company-sponsored “Partios,” which are social gatherings in the Woodson Courtyard; and club-sponsored events to encourage the various groups to interact outside of the classroom. International Partio, one of the most popular social events, celebrates the diverse cultures that make up the Jones Graduate School community. Organized by students, the festival serves authentic cuisine and highlights entertainment from around the world.

Preview Weekends As the leading business school in Houston, the Jones School must reflect the city’s diverse business community. It is imperative to have students from all backgrounds who enhance the diversity of thought necessary during a time that calls for global thought leaders.

Diversity Preview Weekend and Women’s Preview Weekend are two-day events that offer prospective students a detailed look at the Rice MBA programs. “Of

last year’s attendees,” said Melissa Blakeslee, Rice MBA Director of Admissions, “Twenty-one percent are now Rice MBA students.”

Activities for preview weekend programs may include an alumni panel, a student panel, a case simulation and networking workshop led by Jones School faculty, presentations by the school’s Career Management Center and Admissions department as well as time allotments for socializing, networking and interviewing.

I attended Diversity Preview Weekend and was impressed by the credentials and capabilities of the other candidates. Coming to Rice has been the best decision I ever made. The Rice MBA for Professionals program has allowed me to go to school and learn the things I wanted to learn yet continue growing within my company. Networking Opportunities Professional Development Series — The Jones School CMC offers several career development courses and experiential learning programs for incoming and returning students. Pedaling for Charity The Rice MBA Multisports Club MS150 Team rode from Houston to Austin in two days and raised over $5,500 for MS research. The 150 mile charity bike ride benefited the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. With the enthusiastic support of classmates and professors, the team got up early and took 50-mile rides every Saturday. They trained with the ExxonMobil Energy Rider’s Team throughout the Houston area. Sponsorship from the CMC and Office of Student Services provided team jerseys.

The GOOSE Society In 2005, the GOOSE Society of Texas was established as an entrepreneur’s organization — their mission: to study, promote, develop, encourage, practice and celebrate entrepreneurship. The first do-good project of the GOOSE Society, which stands for Grand Order of Successful Entrepreneurs, was the commitment to provide an annual grand prize of $100,000 to the Rice Business Plan Competition, which increased to $125,000 in 2008.

Originally comprised of six members, the GOOSE Society now includes nine: Bob Brockman; Rod Canion; Nancy Chang; Arthur Ciocca; Terry M. Giles; Jack M. Gill, PhD; Michael Holthouse, Leo Linbeck III, and Bill Monteleone. Although Rice University is not alma mater to any of the members, they continue to support and invest in the business school. Members meet once a quarter to look at pitch proposals by mostly tech-centric entrepreneurs.

The first year of the Rice MBA for Professionals program has completely changed my way of thinking. Before starting my MBA, I was focused only on how decisions would affect my day-to-day activities. Every year billionaire Warren Buffett invites business students to visit him at his Omaha-

based conglomerate, Berkshire Hathaway. He holds informal question-and-answer

sessions with the students, which are closed to media and business professionals, along

with lunch and personal photo sessions. For the second year in a row, with more than

100 business schools making the request, Rice MBAs traveled to Nebraska for the once-

in-a-lifetime experience. Impressed by Buffett’s accessible, energetic manner, students

were also inspired by his advice about principled behavior, passion for what you do,

and selflessness. Buffett said about Jesse H. Jones, “Jesse Jones was a hero of the Great

Depression and I not only read his book decades ago about the Reconstruction Finance

Corporation but more recently have watched a tape about his life that the Foundation

sent me. He is a real American icon.”

Financial Information Tuition for the Class of 2013 was $92,500 and includes a $2,000 deposit* due upon acceptance. The remaining tuition is billed in four installments. Many professional students are sponsored financially to some extent by their company. Check with your company about tuition

reimbursement and education benefits programs. The additional cost for the weekend residency option for the academic year 2011-2012 is $6000.

Tuition for the Rice MBA for Professionals program covers the complete 22-month schedule of course work, as well as:

• Textbooks and program materials

• Parking

• Privileges at Fondren Library

• Light meals before classes

• Additional program related fees

Students are required to have a laptop that meets Jones School specifications, but the cost of the laptop is not included in the tuition fee.

*The $2,000 non-refundable deposit is due upon acceptance into the program and serves as a guarantee of enrollment in the year for which you are accepted. Failure to enroll in that year results in forfeiture of the deposit and will require reapplication.

Rice University administers need-based federal and private loans. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required if you wish to be considered for a federal loan. Upon admission to the Jones School, you will receive detailed instructions about filing procedures. And you will have the chance to schedule a private, one-on-one meeting with our Financial Aid specialist who is dedicated to supporting the Rice MBA students.

Applying to REEP The REEP MBA application process begins with the completion of the MBA for Professionals/REEP online application. REEP applicants write a total of four essays including one essay focused on education. If invited to interview, REEP applicants will participate in a series of interviews with both the MBA Admissions Office and the REEP Program Office. Applicants must be accepted into both the MBA for Professionals program and REEP

in order to be offered admission. REEP students must be employed in a Houston-area public school while in the MBA program.

Through generous philanthropic support, REEP students who continue to expand their leadership responsibilities in K-12 public schools may be able to receive tuition reimbursement. This reimbursement will be contingent upon meeting certain provisions which include working in a Houston-area school in a position of leadership or tracking towards a leadership position.
