What are we trying to do?

The aim of the competition is to encourage communities to develop and maintain the very best local web sites.

Northamptonshire Community Web Competition 2013Does your community or village have a website?

•Best informative site•Most online engagement•Impact website has had on the community•Best Young person created section, page or site•Overall Best Website

There are prizes for:

•Detail of information available – Events– History– Practical information such as doctors, dentists, newspaper

delivery, milk delivery, library or mobile library times, recycling and refuse collection, etc

– Links to other services such as Street Doctor, local schools, police, Neighbourhood watch, hospitals and medical services, etc.

•Timeliness of the information•Accuracy of the information (test links and verify information)

1.Best informative site – info about services in that community

•The number of total hits per month compared to the size of community

•Number of posts (including events and news items) in the past 12 months

•Number of comments in the past 12 months

•Number of individuals making posts or comments

•Events calendar utilisation

•Links to Twitter, Facebook, etc and number of followers

2. Most online engagement e.g. comments, posts, events, news items added

•Improved communication within the community

•Improved services because of local campaigns

•Helped Develop a new service or facility

•Increased engagement and attendance at local events

•Increased use of local facilities

•Stopped environmental or planning aggravation

3. Impact website has had on the community

•Quality of content

•Degree of inward or outward looking

•Benefit to the community

•Come to the attention of local press or news organisations

4. Best Young person created section, page or site

•The one that scores highly on all the categories but not necessarily the best in any one.

5. Overall prize for the “Best Web Site”
