Residences and bathing facilities for an
artists retreat in rural Nova Scotia.
A large canopy structure creates a shel-
tered space that links the change rooms and
stone bathhouse. These buildings combine
to form the threshold to the bog and sleep-
ing quarters. A long elevated board walk
runs from the road address and studios (not
part of the design project), through to the
sleeping units.
In front of each change room are screenedlandings that provide places for informal
interaction.
The bathhouse has two interior baths -hot
and cold- and a rooftop pool that is ac-
cessed via an exterior stair.

Sleeping UnitsThese oating structures and thepaths linking them allow the bog to be
experienced from different heights. Each
unit has a single large window directing
the view out into the bog, creating a sense
of privacy and connection to nature.

Halifax Ferry Terminal
This design is for a new ferry terminal
servicing the Halifax-Dartmouth ferry
route. The main level contains the
terminal facilities and public program
spaces. The spaces are dened by the
placement of program rooms within the
larger structure. A mezzanine runs the
length of the structure.

Retirement Living on theHalifax Waterfront
This project energizes the concept of the
retirement home by placing it in a vibrant
area of town. The building provides
interesting spaces for social, physical,
and leasure activities. Creating well lit
spaces and providing each unit with a
view are the two driving goals behindthe layout.
