From the office of the director…….. As we continue through spring and into summer we have

some great activities planned for the coming months. In May we will be taking a trip to Clarkston for lunch and a wood pal-let painting class. For those interested in the Pigeon Forge trip, please remember that all deposits are due by May 15th and final payments are

We are excited to announce that we will be introducing a new fitness class sponsored by St. Joseph Health System, Senior Fit, which will begin in September. Registration will run June 17th

SERVICES Richardson Center Library

A wide selection of books from fiction to mysteries, cookbooks to biographies and more are available for our seniors to take home to read and enjoy. You can always

take home and read your favorite book and bring it back when you are finished for more

people to enjoy.

Computer and Internet Availability

The Richardson Senior Center com-puters are equipped with the Microsoft Office Software. You will have access to

word processing, the internet and e-mail. There will also be a printer set

up for your printing needs.

Senior Lunch Program

The Senior Lunch Program is avail-able on Monday thru Friday at

12:00 noon. Please remember to call two (2) days in advance to

hold your reservation. Meal menus are available upon request at the Richardson Senior Center or by calling the phone number listed

below

Senior Transportation

Commerce Township offers a transportation program. This ser-vice is open to the seniors and

disabled residents of Commerce, White Lake, and Wolverine Vil-

lage. Bus is able to transfer you to the Richardson Center, medical ap-

pointments, malls, bank, grocery store, hair salon and many more

places. For more information please call (248) 698-3994 Mon-day– Friday between the hours of

8:30am and 3:00pm. Reserva-tions may be taken up to two weeks in advance but no later

than one day before. If you wait to reserve, space may not be available. A $2.00 donation is

suggested for each one-way trip!

Registration Reminder

For all special events, even those that do not have a fee, please remember to sign up or register in ad-

vance. If you do not, we may not be able to accommodate you. In all events

where there is a fee, help us by having the correct change when you sign up.

Trip Parking

When parking at the Richardson Senior Center for a day trip, please be sure to park your car at the far end of the parking lot so that spaces in front of the building are left open for those who are in

and out of the center during the day.

The fire department will install smoke detectors for any Commerce Township residents that can not afford one.  Please call 248‐560‐0051 to speak with someone for more infor‐

mation on this program. 

 

Daily Blood Pressure Checks Stop by any of the fire stations daily from 8AM ‐ 6PM for a  

free blood pressure check. 

Operation Medicine Cabinet: The Commerce Twp. Sub Station on Glengary has a medicine drop 

off cabinet in the lobby.  This provides access for seniors to safely discard old or un‐used medications.  The front office is always open Monday ‐ Friday 8AM‐4PM.  The Sheriff’s Non‐Emergency sub‐station 

phone number is 248‐624‐0715.  

911 Cell Phones ‐ The Sheriff’s Office can supply seniors a cell phone for emergency calls, 

 

House Checks ‐ The Sheriff’s Office provides a service which they will check on your home while you 

are out of town.  You can pick up a “House Check” form at the Senior Center or submit the form online via the Oakland County Sheriff website.

Cost: .25 cents per card

Join us on Monday afternoons!!! A variety of games are played to keep your interest and stimulate your

mind.

If we are closed on Monday, Bingo will be on Thursday!

Knit, Crochet & Sewing Circle

Tuesdays 9:30am-11:30am

Cost: Free

This group of ladies (and men), love to create beautiful handmade items. Their creative flair and talent are

shared among each other as they chat and laugh the time away. Come join them even if you are a beginner,

they will make you feel at home.

Monthly Shredding

The 1st Wednesday of each month we offer a service for seniors to

shred unwanted important documents, bank statements, credit

cards statements etc.

We ask that you please remove paper clips and flatten papers out. Please do not place unopened mail

in bag for shredding.

Please Limit to one “Wal-mart” plastic bag

This group of ladies meet and work on all different kinds of

projects! These projects include quilting, embroidery and different

Hospitality House Food Drive

Commerce/Walled Lake Area

Help feed those in need. Stop in the Richardson Center to donate non perishable food items for the

Hospitality House Food Drive! This food drive is an on-going

event, feel free to stop by anytime to drop off donations.

It is amazing to watch those tal-ented men and women working

their craft. They can take a simple piece of wood and turn it into a

fascinating work of art. You really must see them at work to truly appreciate the beauty of their

skill. New members are always welcome to join the ongoing

workshop.

The object of the game is for a player to play all the dominoes from his or

her hand onto one or more chains, or "trains", emanating from a central hub

or "station".

Zumba Gold is a modified Zumba class geared toward active, older adults who love to dance. The choreography focuses

on balance, range of motion and coordination.
