RIDE FOR YOUR RIGHTS!
2
Dear reader, we are pleased to present you our Ride for your Rights! 2013 sponsorship portfolio. We also would like to thank you in advance for your kind interest. On the following pages we want to encourage you to become a partner of the Ride for your Rights! project, which was awarded the Austrian Charlemagne Youth Prize in 2011 and 2013 and lists Presidents, Olympic Gold Champions, and Nobel Peace Prize nominees as its proud supporters. Alongside our already existing partnerships with supporters in politics, education and sport, we require strong economic partners who want to place themselves successfully in this positive environment. Cross-‐border mobility of the youth, education, European identity, environmental friendliness and sustainability, health and tolerance are only a few of the main concepts that the project is dedicated to and aims to convey to the public. We now wish you a pleasant time while taking a closer look at our sponsorship portfolio which will familiarise you with the project and the sponsorship options. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you as a partner of Ride for your Rights! soon.
Yours sincerely,
Julian Walkowiak (Project initiator and coordinator)

1. The vision The project is realised by student volunteers from all over Europe. New volunteers are joining on a continuous basis. Through the Ride for your Rights! project, young Europeans from all countries of the continent are encouraged to become active citizens and are asked to join our efforts in supporting the European idea. Our tours manage to bring together participants from various countries with diverse cultural and social background, all riding for a shared vision once they are with us. Last year for example, our tour from Luxembourg to Brussels focused mainly on the history of Europe’s visionaries by leading all participants through the countries of origin of Europe’s founding fathers. The ultimate aim was to deliver the Ride for your Rights! Manifesto to the President of the European Parliament at the end of the tour. This year it is our aim to boost and promote Europe’s first Citizens Initiative Fraternité 2020 as a positive step forward to direct democracy in the European Union. Hundreds of students are invited to raise questions and look for answers concerning their similarities and differences while riding their bikes together from Vienna to Ankara. A feeling of solidarity and unity will be generated among all participants that will reach far beyond national borders. All informal learning processes will be accompanied by meetings with decision-‐makers and authorities in politics and education, as well as debates, lectures and workshops. The whole project aims at raising awareness of the importance of mobility of young Europeans and students among members of society and European stakeholders. It is due to extensive stays abroad that young people are enabled to develop a shared European identity. By involving Members of the European Parliament and other representatives of European and national governing bodies, as well as influential public figures, the European idea becomes more tangible and media attention is raised. By visiting European cities of historical importance, the participants shall be made aware of the relevance of non-‐violent actions and peaceful cooperations in order to build a democratic and peaceful European society.

1.1 Bike of Honour
Since the beginning of the project, the Bike of Honour has caused plenty of media attention. This unique bicycle has been ridden and signed by political and educational represenatives and authorities in over 18 different countries by now. The list of supporters ranges from sport idols and Olympic Champions to heads of states and the last two Presidents of the European Parliament (photo: Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament 2009-‐2012). This e-‐bike symbolically represents the cohesion and collaboration of all nations in a committment to a peaceful Europe.
1.2 Vienna – Ankara Tour After a long tour from Serbia to Russia (2011) and various tours in Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Poland and the Kosovo (2012), this year’s tour from Vienna to Ankara is once again a very ambitious endeavour, lasting for a total of 8 weeks. The focus in 2013 will repeatedly lie on media visibility and coverage to make a maximum of people aware of the European Citizens Initiative Fraternité 2020. Should the team of Ride for your Rights! succeed in collecting one million signatures along the way, then the vision of a Europe which is built up on international experience, solidarity and tolerance of other cultures will become reality millions of young Europeans in the near future. This year’s Citizens of 2020 Tour begins with a public discussion at the House of the European Union in Vienna. At this occasion guests of honour such the initiator of the Iron Curtain Trail, MEP Michael Cramer, will be present to talk about “Sustainable mobility as a European peace project”, for instance. Another highlight will be the screening of short films and a concert which will be enabled and powered via electricity producing bicycles. After the opening event on the 12th of July, the bicycle tour will start on 15th of July, 2013 and will lead from Vienna via Bratislava, Maribor, Zagreb, Belgrade, Sofia and Istanbul all the way to Ankara. Throughout the tour, meetings with authorities will be scheduled in all relevant tour stops with the help of our numerous partner organisations.
6
The tour aims to reach the following two goals:
• to call on responsible authorities in politics and education and on the society at large for a stronger support for European mobility and
• to create awareness of the richness of European cultures and history among its participants
All activities and happenings of the tour will be documented and distributed via our online channels (Facebook, website, Youtube etc).
1.3 Promoting sustainable mobility
On the first tour all particpants covered 5000 kilometres on bikes. The big Vienna-‐Ankara Tour is not quite as long with the foreseen 3.100 kilometres but nevertheless, it shall help participants to realise that travelling by bike is an environment friendly and efficient mean of transportation. Many trips in Europe may be completed on bikes. The experienced advantages of biking shall encourage the individual to
further use a bicycle on a day-‐to-‐day basis and help to reduce air pollution and emissions.
1.4 Promoting a healthy lifestyle By joining the bike tour participants shall experience the joy of practicing sports. Daily cycling will increase the participants’ stamina and physical fitness. This should motivate them to continue doing exercise and to pursue a healthy lifestyle after the end of the tour.
2. Visibility and the media Since February 2011 the project is promoted on facebook and gains new supporters on
a daily basis. At the beginning of March of the same year the website was launched (www.rideforyourrights.org), containing all important
information about the project and its history plus an application menu for 2013. In addition, flyers and posters have been distributed at all partner universities belonging to the Campus Europae and the ESN network.
Following this approach, this year’s promotion will cause equal effects and boost the popularity of the project considerably. Regular updates on our
7
website, facebook and twitter guarantee a continuous reporting and documentation of the project. As a consequence thereof, your enterprise would profit from a strong representation in front of hundreds of thousands of young people all across Europe. Ensuring media exposure is the responsibility of our local organisation committees that will contact local TV, newspapers and radio outlets before the start of the project. Thereby, media coverage is guaranteed at the different stops of the bike tour. Additionally, we will organise bike flashmobs in all bigger cities with the aim of distributing flyers and promotional materials to the public. Following the good practice of the last years, we will once again produce our own short video clips which will be shown on our own YouTube channel and disseminated via all media channels of our partner organisations.
3. Impact Before and throughout the tour a petition will be launched and promoted (Fraternité 2020) addressing the society at large, politics, and economic players to maintain and support student mobility and other exchange programmes in Europe. Through our media coverage during the bike tour and the collection of signatures, the importance of cultural exchange, made possible for each individual with the help of mobility programmes, should be emphasised. This will positively influence the cooperation between decisive actors and institutions and further create mutual understanding and trust among a young generation.
The Citizens of 2020 Tour shall positively effect all participants thanks to its educational and diverse programme. Additionally, it shall foster the European idea and values within society.

4. The project’s sustainability After the end of the tour, a final conference will take place in Vienna where the results of the Citizens of 2020 Tour will be presented. At this event all involved organisations will meet and consolidate their demand for improving mobility schemes within the Europe. Members of the European Parliament and Commissioners will be invited to the meeting to engage in the debate.
5. The tour These are the key-‐dates of the tour: (Please note: Public and private events will be organised in all bigger cities en route.
