Three for FiveHead coach Lynn Milligan, Associate Head CoachPam Durkin and Assistant Coach John Miller allreturn for their fifth seasons.
Head Coach Lynn MilliganRider Head Coach Lynn Milligan is in her fifth season as head coach. Milligan came to Rider from SaintJoseph’s University where she was a six-year assistant coach. Three of her last five recruiting classesfor the Hawks were nationally ranked and the Hawks had 111 wins in her six seasons including five WNITappearances. Prior to coaching at Saint Joseph’s, Milligan was the top assistant coach at DrexelUniversity for six seasons. Milligan is a 1992 graduate of then Rider College with a degree inCommunication and earned her master’s in Counseling in 1994 from Rider. Milligan was a two-sport standout as Lynn Donovan lettering in basketball and softball. As a senior in 1992, Milligan helped lead theBroncs to a 9-3 record in the East Coast Conference and as a graduate assistant at Rider, the Broncscompiled a 35-20 record including a 25-11 record in the Northeast Conference. Milligan is the 19th headcoach in the 73-year history of the sport at Rider.

Fazzini MAAC Rookie of the Week - December 5-11
LAWRENCEVILLE—Sophomore MyNeshia McKenzie (Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Delco)) and freshman Emily Fazzini
(Wayne, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) of the Rider University women’s basketball team were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference Player and Rookie of the Week respectively for all games December 5-11.
This is only the fifth time since the 2002-03 season that Rider has had a MAAC Player of the Week honoree.
McKenzie, a member of the MAAC All-Rookie team as a freshman, had two ‘double-doubles’ in Rider’s 2-0 week and has
had ‘double-doubles’ in three straight games.
Fazzini averaged 6.5 points and 3.5 rebounds for the week and scored nine points while pulling down four rebounds and had
two assists and a block in Rider’s win at NJIT on December 11.
Fazzini has started every game for Rider this season and is averaging over 23 minutes per contest while scoring 4.8 points
and pulling down 2.6 rebounds.
Rider’s last MAAC Rookie of the Week honoree was McKenzie who won the award twice last season.
For the week, McKenzie averaged 12.5 points and 12.5 rebounds playing almost 32 minutes per contest.
The Broncs defeated Stony Brook 53-41 on December 6 and won at the New Jersey Institute of Technology 60-50 on
December 11. Against the Seawolves, McKenzie had 11 points and tied a career-high with 15 rebounds and against the
Highlanders, McKenzie had 14 points, 11 in the second half and pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with three steals and
two blocks.
McKenzie leads the MAAC in rebounding and is third in free throw percentage, fifth in scoring, sixth in field goal
percentage, eighth in minutes played, 13th in blocks and 15th in steals.
Nationally, McKenzie is 24th in rebounding and 50th in free throw percentage.
McKenzie now has 10 career ‘double-doubles’ including five this year (eighth most in the nation) in earning her first confer-
ence recognition of the season.
McKenzie was also honored by CollegeSportsMadness.com for all games played December 4-10.
In that span, McKenzie averaged 13.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game including a 16 point, 13 rebound effort against
20th ranked Georgetown. Rider took the Hoyas down to the wire before losing 58-51 on December 4 in Washington, D.C.
CollegeSportsMadness.com names a weekly award winner from each conference for each calendar week of both the men’s
and women’s basketball seasons and will expand coverage to men’s and women’s soccer, baseball and softball and
lacrosse.
For the season, McKenzie is averaging 13.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
Rider’s last MAAC Player of the Week honoree was Tammy Meyers on November 24, 2008.
This is the second time in Rider’s 15 years in the MAAC that the Bronc women’s basketball team has earned both awards
in the same week. Patricka Smith and Iris Beistline earned MAAC Player and Rookie honors on December 1, 1997, Rider’s
first season in the conference.
D gets AsRider held Mount St. Mary’s to 44 points onDecember 29, the 12th time (and fourth time thisseason) under head coach Lynn Milligan that Riderhas held an opponent under 50 points...the Broncsheld Stony Brook to 41 points on December 6...Riderheld St. Francis (NY) to 22 points in the first half onNovember 30 and 48 points in the game and theBroncs held Bucknell to one field goal and sevenpoints in the second half on November 13 in a 63-43win...in 2009-10, Rider allowed only 41 pointsagainst Monmouth (November 19, 2009) and heldthe Hawks to 13 points in the second half. TheBroncs also held Siena to 45 points in the 2010MAAC tournament.
Heller Loves NYSenior Ali Heller made a career-high six three-pointers and scored a career-high 26, 16 in theopening half as Rider won at St. Francis (NY) 68-48on November 30. In Rider’s game at Binghamton onDecember 17, Heller scored 24 points, making fivefrom long range. Last season, Heller finished 10thnationally in three-point field goalpercentage...Heller was definitely far sighted with58 three pointers and 12 field goals from inside thearc as a junior...this season, Heller has 45 fieldgoals, 32 from long range and is shooting39.5 percent (32 for 81) from the new NCAAwomen’s three-point distance.
Milligan’s 100thThe Lehigh game on December 29, 2010 was the100th in the head coaching career of Lynn Milligan.

Speaking of Alumni1997 Rider grad and current Associate Head Coachof the Broncs Pam Durkin was inducted into the AlCarino Basketball Club South Jersey Hall of Fameon February 10, 2010. Durkin, now in her fifthseason on the coaching staff at Rider, was the1997 Rider Female Athlete of the Year and earnedAll-Northeast Conference honors as a senior,ranking seventh in the nation in rebounding at11.7 boards per game. In 1996-97, Durkin wasnamed the South Jersey Collegiate Player of theYear by the Al Carino Basketball Club and thatyear was inducted into the Sterling High SchoolAthletic Hall of Fame.
Hall of Famer1995 Rider graduate and women’s basketball starJennifer Feeney was among five inductees into theRider Athletics Hall of Fame on June 11, 2011.Feeney graduated fourth in career scoring at Riderwith 1,262 points, fifth in career rebounds with590 and seventh in career assists with 235.

Ya-Ba-Double-DoThis season, both MyNeshia McKenzie and Caitlin Bopp had double-doubles against Bucknell in Rider’s 63-43 win on November 13 with McKenzie recording her second ‘double-double’ in a row at Penn (23 points,12 rebounds) on November 19. McKenzie notched her third ‘double-double’ of the season at #20Georgetown on December 4, scoring 16 points while pulling in 13 rebounds and picked up ‘double-double’number four of the season (and ninth of her career) in Rider’s 53-41 win over Stony Brook on December 6with 11 points and 15 rebounds...McKenzie notched her 10th career ‘double-double’ with 14 points and 10rebounds in Rider’s 60-50 win at NJIT on December 11, 2011, picked up career ‘double-double’ #11 againstNiagara on January 4, 2012 with 11 points and 14 rebounds and scored ‘double-double’ #12 against Mariston January 7, 2012 with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Bopp recorded her second ‘double-double’ of theseason and 17th of her career against Loyola Maryland on January 9, 2012 (16 points, 14 rebounds).
Madness for the Broncs Senior Ali Heller was named the CollegeSportsMadness.com Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played November 27-December 3. At St. Francis (NY) on November 30, Heller made a career-high six three-pointers enroute to a career-high 26 points as Rider defeated the Terriers 68-48 in BrooklynHeights. Heller was eight for 14 from the field, including six for 10 from long distance and was a perfectfour for four from the free throw line. Sophomore MyNeshia McKenzie was honored for her play December4-10. In that span, McKenzie averaged 13.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game including a 16 point, 13rebound effort against 20th ranked Georgetown. Rider took the Hoyas down to the wire before losing58-51 on December 4 in Washington, D.C. CollegeSportsMadness.com named a weekly award winner fromeach conference for each calendar week of both the men’s and women’s basketball seasons and willexpand coverage to men’s and women’s soccer, baseball and softball and lacrosse.
Kid’s Day(s) Out Rider participated in three Kid’s Day Out games this season...Rider hosted Loyola Maryland on January 9, played at Iona on January 13 and tipped off at Niagara on January 27 at 11am at Niagara. The program from the NCAA encourages schools to center a women’s basketball game around a field trip for kids (elementary and middle school) to visit a college campus and participate in several activities including the game.

Last season, MyNeshia McKenzie made the start atBucknell on November 12, 2010, opening the 2010-11 campaign. In 2009-10, Rider rookie Carleigh Brownmade her first collegiate start in her first game on November 13, 2009 against Seton Hall. Carleigh wasthe first Rider rookie to start her first collegiate game since Stephanie Wisniewski started against Rice onNovember 12, 2006. Carleigh Brown had started 27 straight games before the senior day starting fiveended the streak on February 26, 2010...the last Bronc rookie to start every game was Kara Borel whostarted all 28 games in 2003-04. Fazzini has started all 22 games for Rider this season entering today’sgame.
Game on the LineIn the first 22 games this season, Rider has been making a living at the free throw line, recording 291 of1,243 points (23 percent) from the charity stripe. After shooting 61 percent from the line last season(costing the Broncs almost 10 points per game), Rider has improved to a 69.0 percent success rate thisseason.
The Kiss of JeffJunior Carleigh Brown was a perfect seven for seven from the free throw line for the 2011-12 season,including three for three against Princeton until Rider radio personality Jeff Nolan told our expansivelistening audience that Carleigh hadn’t missed yet in the game or this season. M*A*S*H Update - (a/k/a the Dain Report)From the desk of Athletic Trainer Gina Dain, junior Shereen Lightbourne will miss the 2011-12 season with aknee injury. Junior Caitlin Bopp returned to play on December 17 at Binghamton after missing five gameswith a foot injury. Freshman Emily Fazzini injured an ankle against Fairleigh Dickinson on December 22 butreturned to action at Mount St. Mary’s on December 29 without missing any games. Senior Alyssa Parsonsand junior Dior Brown suffered minor injuries against Marist on January 7 but both played against LoyolaMaryland without missing any games. Senior Ali Heller suffered a torn ACL at Iona on January 13 and isexpected to miss the rest of the season. Aisha Varnadore missed three games with a concussionsymptoms and returned to action at Fairfield on February 2...incoming freshman (second semester) ManonPellet is now enrolled at Rider but suffered a torn ACL several weeks ago and will start her Bronc careerduring the 2012-13 season.

New Logo - New FloorOn July 25, 2007, Rider Athletics unveiled a new Bronc logo. Only the fourth Rider Athletics logo in history,the original ‘Roughrider’ logo was designed by the legendary Clair Bee 80 years ago and was last used in1989 when Rider switched to an upright Bronc. When Rider gained University status in 1994, a ‘U’ wasincorporated into the logo. Due to a flood in August, 2009, the Alumni Gym floor was completely replacedwith the gym reopening for competition in November, 2009. With the three-point arc being moved to themen’s distance, the floor was resurfaced for this season over the summer.
Same Name, New WebsiteIn January, 2008, the Rider Department of Athletics unveiled the redesigned GoBroncs.com website andthe site, through a year-long process was updated again with a redesign that launched November 21,2011. Through a partnership with NeuLion, we are now able to offer more content (over 80,000 pages andcounting), and ‘BroncVision’ which steams (audio and video) for the home men’s basketball games,women’s basketball games and wrestling matches (except for televised events). With the evolution of thesite, other Rider sporting events were added in 2010-11 (men’s and women’s soccer and field hockey,along with volleyball). Enhanced LiveStats via ‘GameTracker’ is also offered for all Rider home events inmen’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.

Turning the CornerRider’s win over FDU on December 22 clinched the second winning month in a row for Bronc head coachLynn Milligan, the first two winning months of her tenure at Rider. The win at St. Francis (NY) onNovember 30 clinched Rider’s first winning month (3-2 record) since December, 2002 when the Broncs went5-1. The Broncs were .500 (3-3) in November, 2007 and 5-5 in January, 2009.
Taking Care of Business and Working Lots of OvertimeRider won at Niagara in triple overtime on February 18, 2011 79-73, defeated Iona 93-87 indouble overtime on February 6, 2011 and the Broncs defeated Saint Peter’s in overtime on January 15, 2011 bya 70-69 score...Rider did not play any overtime games in 2009-10.
Under head coach Lynn Milligan the Broncs are 6-2 in overtime games.
Rider was 1-1 in overtime in 2008-09 having lost at Monmouth 50-48 on November 24, 2008 afterdefeating Fairleigh Dickinson November 21, 2008 by a 65-64 score.
The back to back overtime games were Rider’s first since the 1989-90 season, when the Broncs lost to Pennbefore bouncing back to defeat LIU.
Rider went 2-1 in overtime games in 2007-08. The Broncs lost to Siena 84-81 on February 29, 2008 afterdefeating the Saints on January 27, 2008 by a score of 77-73. The Broncs also defeated Army onDecember 12, 2007 by a score of 66-61.
Before the Iona game on February 6, 2011, Rider’s last double overtime contest was February 11, 1993 againstMarist in a Northeast Conference game when the Broncs lost 78-75.
The Niagara game on February 18, 2011 is believed to be Rider’s first triple overtime game.
