Eddie Amezcua Jr. readily admits Buffalo Wings and Rings is a rather deceiving name for his restaurant, given the expansive menu that also includes salads, quesadillas, burgers and gyros. “But, our name is already too big,” he says. “And we hope to draw you in with the wings and then give you plenty of other reasons to come back for more.”Amezcua and his father, Eduardo Amezcua Sr., opened the first BW&R in the San Antonio area on Dec. 14. Located at 203 N. Loop 1604 West between Stone Oak Parkway and Blanco Road, the restaurant is among some 51 Wings and Rings nationwide, but only the second to debut the company’s new “Next Generation G3” building design. Spanning 6,500 square feet, the open and modern decor and inviting outdoor patio offers a perfect spot for families to connect over great food. Sports fans will also find a pleasing setup that includes 22 televisions, several large “video walls,” a superb sound system and daily happy hour specials.
“It’s been real positive,” Amezcua says of the community’s response so far. “I can sleep at night knowing customers are saying, “We’ll be back!”Amezcua and his father opened their first BW&R restaurant in their hometown of Del Rio two years ago. The family was drawn to this franchise because they knew the menu was something they could
stand behind. “We love the food and I believe in our food 100 percent,” says Amezcua. Along with a revised design, the new Stone Oak location also debuts BW&R’s recently expanded menu, which includes 40 new additions. “The crave-worthy flavors of BW&R run throughout the menu with unexpected tastes and flavor combinations in the burgers, salads, gyros, sandwiches and quesadillas,” says Amezcua. “We’re excited that San Antonio will be one of the first to debut it in conjunction with the new build-out.”
While drawn to Stone Oak’s family-friendly communities, Amezcua also knew he and his team had to bring their A-game from day one in order to stand out from the many other restaurants in this area. “We know our customer service and food has to be top notch,” he says. “We have to be at 100 percent from the very beginning.”Buffalo Wings and Rings was first established in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1984. Now located in more than a dozen states, the franchise has drawn quite a following thanks to its fresh
food, homemade sauces and a business model that is continuously altered to meet the needs of families and wing connoisseurs.The Stone Oak BW&R is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to midnight Sundays. Children eat free every Monday, wings are just 59 cents on Tuesdays and tenders are 99 cents every Wednesday.
