• Each group will complete a task. I need an assessor and observer from each group.

The TASK• Blow up balloons one at a time.• Tie the balloon.• Cut a length of yarn and attach to the balloon.• Hand the balloon to the assessor for

evaluation.

• Any balloon not done correctly will rejected by the assessor by popping it with a push pin.

• Each group must try to figure out the evaluation criteria for “acceptable” work.

Goal• Work in Quadrants B and D as much as

possible to prepare students for the more demanding standards and assessments of CCSS.

• Use Authentic tasks…because they have value and meaning beyond the classroom. Students must put their knowledge and skills to work just as they might do naturally in or out of school.

• If you teach more than one subject, just choose your favorite.
