Let’sanimate!Thiscourseexposesstudentstothemanyfacesofanimation,which,atitscore,istheartofcreatingtheillusionofmovingpictures.Butwhetherit’soneoftheTotorosofMiyazaki,Disney’swinterfairiescreatingpoetryonice,orthewackyinstructionalanimationsofSesame Street,animationisanartformthatwearsmanymasks.Eachweek,studentsinthiscourseexploreadifferentstyleofanimation,functioningasanimator,actor,cameraoperatorandeditor.Usingavarietyofdrawnandtwo-dimensionalmedia,theygoontocreateseveralexclusiveshortanimations.Ultimately,studentsareintroducedtoavarietyoftechniques,includingdrawing,cut-outs,andpixilation,andlearntocombineimageswithsound,producingaDVDoftheirworktosharewithfamilyandfriends.

RISD|CEhaslongofferedanumberofcreativephotographycoursesinourYoungArtistProgram,andmanyofourstudentshavebeenhonoredwithRhodeIslandScholasticArtAwardsfortheirphotographsandportfolios.Asanextstep,weofferthisfive-coursecertificateprogramforstudentsconsideringpursuingadvancedstudiesand/orafuturecareerinphotography.Inadditiontotraditionalphotog-raphytechniques,topicsintheareasofdigitalphotographyandcomputerdesignpreparestudentsfortheinnovativenewfrontiersofthisexcitingartform.Coursesalsofocusondevelopingskillsandtechniquesthatassistyoungartistsinbuildingacomprehensivebodyofworkforprofessional-lookingportfolios.InordertoearntheRISD|CECertificateinPhotography,studentsmustcompletefiveapplicablecourseswithinthreeyears.
