Rising Sophomore Course Selection Choices2018-19 School Year
Each Student has a few requirements to meet:
• Each Student will be enrolled in Religion II
• Each Student will be enrolled in a Mathematics course by departmental placement
• Keep in mind graduation requirements as you plan your other courses:
– 4 credits English, Religion, Math
– 3.5 credits Social Studies
– 2 credits Classical Languages, Modern Languages, Science
– 1 credit Fine Arts
Standard Sophomore Year Courses:
English II – American Literature
For a student who took Latin I as a freshman: An appropriate level course in either Spanish, French, or German
Modern & Classical Languages:
For a student who took Modern Language as a freshman: Latin I
For a student who took Modern Language as a freshman: the next level course in that language
For a student who took Latin I as a freshman: Latin II
Social Studies Choices:A Sophomore MUST choose oneGlobal History - A one-semester course
AP World History
Science Choices:
Chemistry
Honors Chemistry Biology/Honors Biology (if not taken as a freshman)
Elective Options:
• A student may choose to take Sophomore Art: Methods & Materials if they choose Global History
– Each course is one semester
• If a student did not complete his Fine Arts requirement as a freshman, he must do so as a sophomore
