Proceeds received from the Rising Sun Run will benefit our community

youth leadership and activities:

INTERACT:A high school club for youth ages 12 - 18 who carry out service projects and learn about the

world.

ROTARACT:People age 18 - 30 in universities and communities worldwide to organize service activities, and

develop leadership and professional skills.

RYLA:Rotary Youth Leadership Awards - Events are typically 3 - 10 days long and include presentations,

activities, and workshops that cover a variety of topics, including leadership fundamentals,

communication skills ethics, problem solving and conflict management. For High School students

VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS:Provide scholarships to college students pursuing a vocational degree. This year we gave out 5

scholarships of $1,000.00 each

BackgroundStarted in 2012:Run Your Own 401K. A fun run. Grew into a 5/10k race and a ½ marathon was added in 2015

(180 runners).

The Rising Sun Run

2019 Runners:

67 = ½ Marathon

28 = 10Km38 = 5Km

2018 Runners:

87 = ½ Marathon

50 = 10Km

71 = 5Km208 133

2017 Runners:184

Steady growth in participation from 2012 to 2019. Last year the numbers were

down: other events going on; more PR needed; etc., etc. Got to work the

participation!!!

marshals, mile markers, water stations (bring marking

equip=arrows, spray chalk)

4:00PM – Roto-rooter delivers portable toilets to race HQ and

Stafford lane sites

5:00PM – Transfer cones/mile markers to course set teams and

store sandwich boards at Huachuca Mtn School

5:00 – 7:00 PM – Registration and packet pick up

Volunteers Needed

Course marking teams on Friday x 2 (1 team for ½ marathon, 1 team

for 5/10K) (requires 2 people and1 truck per team) half day task,

mark courses (cone, mile marker and water stn. locations, arrows,

etc.) Total 4 people

Registration help Friday evening and Saturday morning (4 people)

Sign in runners, distribute packets, swag bags, etc.

Course set team x 2 Sat morning (1 for ½ marathon, 1 for 5/10K)

place cones/mile markers; retrieve at completion Total 4 people

Course marshal drivers x 4 (each with vehicle) Drive marshals to
