Dependency on oil & gas price development, sanctions & FDI

Certain sectors privileged- economy partly run by state owned, bonyads& big holdings

Despite problems: Iran is a wealthy country in minerals and has the highest industrialization rate in the MENA region

Oil is the dominant export commodity (4/5 of total exports)

15% of GDP, 80% of Budget

Very high rate of imports --->disadvantage for Iranian economy

1 million jobs per year are required

Private sector (28% of GDP is competitive and able to create jobs)

Almost all existing plants does need complete revamping and

modernization of the machines. During the sanction over 90% of the

machines came from China and Korea, a small part from India and Turkey

Iran's annual petrochemical production capacity is

around 65 million tons

Iran's petchem exports to reach 20 Mio. tons by March 20

2017

Production of different kinds of petrochemical products,

showing 18 percent growth

Better international engagements and positive

atmosphere in the post-JCPOA era

2nd largest petrochemicals producer in ME

INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The nominal capacity of the petrochemical industry will rise to 72 million tons a year.

Call for boosting the capacity of the production to 130 million tons a year by the end of the sixth economic development plan (2017-22)

before reaching 180 million tons by 2025 needs $72 billion in foreign investment for 80 major petrochemical

projects NPC's plans to have a stronger presence in world markets Iran Petchem exports to Europe rise up two-fold Forecast domestic sales of petrochemicals to rise by 25% 1st petrochemicals producer in ME

IRAN’S AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY OVERVIEW

16

• Iran’s automotive industry is the 2nd most important industry of the

country, after the oil and gas industry, accounting for 10% of Iran's GDP

• Biggest in ME, number 15 in the world

• The market share for Chinese cars have raised, as they have filled the

void left by European manufacturers who left the market due to the

sanctions.

• The available platforms are three decades old

• Efforts to privatize the sector

• Customer satisfaction is decreasing because of the old style, quality

issues, customer care, prices and etc.

• In order to bring the technology up to date, new platforms are needed.

The current platforms are not proper for high level technology

• To reduce the high excessive emission

feed up to 18 million people annually

About 9.3 billion cubic meters of water are lost every year thanks to the

wasted crops
