However, the reality is that small tree will need support, water, wind, and lots of time before it puts down suitable roots and grows strong and tall enough to provide the type of pleasant shade we first envisaged. And so it is in our journey with God. We need to put in the time and effort following His ways, delighting in and meditating on them at all times. Have you taken the time to

ponder Psalm 1 so far this term? This is the Scripture

we have been considering in our classes at RCCC

during the last three weeks and students have

begun to be recognised for their ability to

remember and show understanding of this Psalm.

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with

the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or

sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight

is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his

law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree

planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in

season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever

they do prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are

like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore

the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor

sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the

Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but

the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

As it was read again in our weekly Chapel time last

Monday, I realised once more of the need for

perspective and patience. I do remain confident in

the truth that the Lord watches over the way of the

righteous, enabling them to be productive and to

know deep peace and joy in their lives. I also stand

confident in the truth that the way of the wicked

leads to destruction, but God often has a different

time frame than I may have preferred. In fact, I

think many of us would opt for the more instant

delivery of the things we would like to have. It

applies in so many areas of our lives and could be

compared to us looking out into the garden on a

summer day, seeing the need for a shady tree and

deciding to plant one. However, the reality is that

small tree will need support, water, wind, and lots

of time before it puts down suitable roots and

grows strong and tall enough to provide the type

of pleasant shade we first envisaged.

And so it is in our journey with God. We need to

put in the time and effort following His ways,

delighting in and meditating on them at all times.

Then, when the season is right, we are able to

provide the shade, comfort and nurture for those

God has planted us amongst. God’s ways and

timing are perfect. We can rest assured of that!

Prayer Points:

• For God’s healing of those in our school

community and beyond who are unwell.

• For our Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 students as they

participate in NAPLAN testing this week.

• For safety and enjoyment as our Swan Class

prepare to head off to camp next Monday.

• For our upcoming Open Day and connecting

with those God would have come to RCCC in

2022 and beyond.

• For God’s wisdom as we get into some planning

for Semester 2 and beyond.

While prayer can be at anytime and anywhere,

parents and friends are also welcome to unite in

prayer at home or at school each Monday during the

school term, 8.55am to 9.15am. If at school, this will

be in the Library for now.

Milo Mondays

The SRC are now selling

warm Milo on Monday

lunchtimes. This is a

fundraising effort for

Emmanuel who we sponsor

through Compassion.

The cost is $1 for a cup, with

or without a marshmallow.

RCCC Kilometre Club

We are starting our Kilometre Club

at school this week!

To begin with it will be held during

lunch break but if people are keen,

we will do it before school too. It

is open for all students, staff and

parents to join us. You can walk,

run or even cartwheel if you like! The idea is to

gradually notch up kilometres by simply running (or

walking) one lap at a time. Four laps make up one

kilometre and there will be prizes for reaching certain

individual goals. The Kilometre Club is completely

voluntary but we will be recognising class participation

with a reward yet to be agreed upon (ideas welcome).

The motivation behind this club is to get people

enjoying the outdoors together, whilst using our bodies

to keep fit and healthy. Bring your runners to change

into or leave them in your locker if you don’t need

them at home in the evenings. This isn’t a race against

your peers, rather a chance to challenge yourself. Hope

to see you out there on the oval. Julie-Ann Watson

AGM for RCCC Inc.

River City Christian College Inc. is the Incorporated

Association of members who have the responsibility for

the future of the school as they endeavour to faithfully

follow in God’s ways. In line with the Constitution of

the Association, an Annual General Meeting occurs to

receive reports, ensure suitable members are elected to

the School Board and to make other decisions as the

need arises. The AGM this year will be held at the

school at 7.30pm on Wednesday May 26th. If you

would like to understand more about RCCC Inc.,

please talk with myself or the Board Chairman (Peter

Costello) by contacting the school office. Guests are

also welcome to attend the RCCC Inc. AGM as

observers.

Pie Day—Friday

Each Friday over the winter

term we can heat a pie or

similar in the pie warmer.

Please wrap your child’s

item in foil with their name

on it.

They can drop it at the

Food Tech room before assembly and it will be hot

and ready for lunch time pick-up.

Encouraging enrolments at RCCC and our upcoming Open Day

We are always keen to welcome visitors to the school and discuss the possibility of new young people enrolling

with us. Please be on the ready to promote the school with your friends and contacts and one good opportunity

for that is our Open Day on Thursday May 27th. While this is just a “normal” day in the life of the school where

classes proceed as timetabled, we are advertising this as a particular day when people can come and be escorted

around the school as they consider if RCCC may meet the schooling needs for the children they care for. An

advertisement to promote our Open Day was attached to last week’s Newsletter and if you want more, please

contact the school office.

Upcoming Events

Campaspe Class visiting Bupa Aged Care Facility

on Friday morning May 14th. It has been a joy to

have various classes visit Bupa over the years to

share in various ways, building relationships and

encouraging Christian faith. Although we had a

brief visit last term, this will be the first time we

return to our “normal” format.

Primary Swimming Program returns. We have only

just had confirmation that we can run our

traditional swimming lessons for our Primary

students at the Echuca Pool. Details will be sent

home soon but the plans are to attend for an hour

each school afternoon for the two week period

from Monday May 24th to Friday June 4

th.

Taking Care With What Students Are Drinking At

School

Lots of water is good and that’s why we

encourage students to have their own drink bottle

with them.

Apart from that, please do not have students bring

fizzy drinks from home as they are generally rich in

sugar and not all that helpful for students’

performance at school although they are available

at some special events.

However, “energy” drinks and caffeine rich

products should not be consumed prior to or at

school as we have found these to be generally

detrimental to the performance of students at

school.

Theatre Sports

Country Heats

Four students from our Snowy Performing Arts class,

competed in the CSEN regional Theatre Sports heats in

Bendigo last Wednesday. Chelsea Putt-Atley, Matthew

Collins, Rowan Whitfield and Gabriella Attwell did an amazing

job and should be very proud of themselves. They bravely

agreed to represent River City Christian College in this rather

nerve racking, on the spot, improvisation competition. They

all conducted themselves commendably and came in a very

close second place, to the Creek Street Christian College Year

9/10 team. Great job ‘Riverines’!

The Echuca Moama Beacon Foundation & CCLLEN continue to provide an inspirational Career Expo for our young people each year. The Ovens class participated in the Virtual Careers Expo 2021 on the 6

th of May, at

school. Throughout the Virtual Careers Expo, students watched approximately three Career videos that they were most interested in from a range comprising of more than 50 videos of a diverse range of careers. This event was successfully organised with the assistance and direction of Mrs Schuller, Mr Nelson and Mr Corbz.

& Campaspe Cohuna LLEN

Careers Expo Online

Ovens Class Virtual Careers Expo 2021

The event commenced with an introduction from our Beacon Leaders, Simon Evans and Noah Borg.

Students engaged in an interactive Career activity led by Mr Corbz.

An interactive workbook was also provided to assist students to gain the most from these videos and the further planning of their career pathways.

Radiant Media Productions had captured on video the information from local businesses explaining what they do in their job, a typical day, and how they got into the industry. They also described some of the skills required for their role and which school subjects were important for their career. The videos feature local businesses, workplaces and staff carrying out tasks, creating realistic and meaningful viewpoints of different occupations.

Some brief images from last week at RCCC

On Tuesday we had a full day working with robots under the guidance of Kevin and Pauline Taylor from

The World of Robotics. They challenged students to create a robot that could feature in a future Star

Wars movie and there were some great creations.

Then on Friday afternoon we welcomed a

number of Mums, Grandmas and other

significant women in the life of our school

community as we recognised Mothers’ Day

and provided some afternoon tea made by

the Snowy Class. Thank you for your

presence, it was a special brief afternoon

together.
