  • 1. Meanders are where the river bends. Meanders normally occur in the middle and lower courses where the water is moving more slowly.

2. The mouth of a river is where the river flows into the sea , a lake or a larger flow of water. This is where the river ends. 3. Tributaries are streams or small rivers that flow into a bigger river. 4. The source of a river is where the river starts The source of a river may be a lake, a spring, snow capped mountains, or a glacier. 5. Deltas are little islands formed at the mouth of the river. Deltas form because when the river enters the sea the current weakens and it drops gravel, mud and sand. 6. Erosion is where over time the river removes rock from the river banks or bed. This can happen by the river breaking down the rocks, Or the river removing the material of the river banks 7. Flood plains are flat areas around a river that occasionally floods. These are formed because the river floods, deposits sand, gravel or/and clay, that over time compress together to make a waterproof surface. So when it rains it floods easily. 8. A canyon is a long deep narrow valley with steep cliff walls that normally has a river at the bottom. Canyons are formed by running water cutting through a dry area. 9. name part of the Thames
