What is Riverside Center for Change? Our Riverside Center for Change is an intensive court supervised program. Working in collaboration with Family Preservation Court, it helps parents overcome drug and/or alcohol dependency. This permits children to be safely returned to their homes, keeping the family together. What Are Our Services?Our comprehensive services help ensure that parents receive all the support they need to stay clean and sober and provide a safe home for their children. These services include:

• Casemanagement

• Substanceabusecounselingand education sessions

• Parentsupportgroups

• TheNurturingFamiliesProgram, designed to strengthen family communication and parenting skills

• Genderspecificgroupsforbothmen and women

• Angermanagementanddomestic violence classes

• Frequentandrandomalcoholand drug testing

Our community partners offer education groups to our parents on topics related to health and wellness, such as family planning, and STD and HIV education. They also offer HIV testing.

How Can We Help?Our Riverside Center for Change helps parents recover from substance abuse, keeping families together and children safe. We promote healthy families by creating a safe environment for parents to receive treatment for their substance dependence. This encourages parents to to create a safe environment in their homes so their families are able to thrive. How Do We Get Referrals?

Our referrals come from the Department of Public Social Services (Children’s Services Unit), Family Law Court, and Juvenile Dependency Court. Parents are referred to our program either “Pre-file” (prior to a CPS case filed in court) or “Post-file” (open CPS case filed in court). Family Law referrals are sent to us by the court mediator.

Who Do We Serve?Our services are available to:

• Parentswhohavebeenidentifiedby Children’s Services as having substance abuse issues

• FamilieswhoareassessedbyChildren’s Services to have risk factors

• Parentswithatriskchildrenages0-18

In addition to these eligibility requirements,participationintheprogram is subject to the approval of the Family Preservation Court and Family Law Court Teams.
