Join us for a one-of-a-kind Summer Residential Program that is personal, engaging and active at a school with a reputation for excellence: Riverstone International School.
Using the theme, Water in the West, as a springboard, you will:• Improve your English language skills;• Learn how water plays a role in the West through tours, presentations, and field trips;• Learn field and laboratory research techniques;• Explore the arts through the lens of Idaho’s rivers and lakes; and• Raft, kayak, and camp with friends and instructors!
Additionally:• Learn about the American college experience and receive personal advice;• Experience the independence of boarding school life while living in Riverstone’s new
residential facility in downtown Boise, Idaho; and• Make friends from around the world!
Water in the West: A Unique Summer Residential Program Days 1-3: Arrival and Orientation in Boise, ID
• Participate in team-building activities to get to know your peers and instructors• Tour Downtown Boise, visit art galleries, shop, and eat at a local restaurant• Practice your English skills• Become familiar with Riverstone House, our dormitory!
Days 4-12: Explore, Learn and Play in the Waters of Idaho• Kayak lessons in pristine Payette Lake• Tour local orchards and farms to learn about how water is used for agriculture• Conduct hands on field and laboratory research to learn about water science • Learn to paint and improve your photography skills in the outdoors• Camp overnight at Ponderosa State Park in McCall, Idaho• Take a jet boat tour of Hell’s Canyon on the Snake River• Enjoy a white water rafting adventure with Cascade Raft and Kayak• Speak with professionals about how water impacts recreation, agriculture, and energy in Idaho• Enjoy local cultural events such as the Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Stampede Rodeo, San
Inazio Basque Festival
Days 13-14: The American College Experience• Visit and tour several local colleges and universities• Meet with a college counselor to receive personal advice on applying for US colleges
Day 15: Reflection & Celebration • Spend time relaxing with your dorm mates • Celebrate with peers, instructors, and local Riverstone students at a farewell BBQ
Day 16: Day of Departure• Pack up and say goodbye to your friends! We hope to see you again soon!
