We’re rounding up everyone for a spring buying show in San Antonio full of learnin’, tradin’ and Wild West times. Average January

temperatures in the 60’s make beautiful San Antone a favorite host city–especially to the northerners among us.

We’ll have a diverse selection of seminars and topics to keep you on top of merchandising, managing, buying and selling. There’s a new contest to show off your display skills. Danny Cahill, winner of the eighth season of NBC’s The Biggest Loser, will have some things to tell us about determination and goal attainment. We’ll continue with those great interactive meetings where we learn from each other,

as well as the usual parties, vouchers, giveaways, coupons and prizes you’ve come to expect.

Think of the RJO Round-Up as a well-deserved vacation following the most hectic sales month of the year – and a great opportunity to replenish depleted inventories with the latest trending merchandise in preparation of Valentine’s Day.

Buying, selling and other activities will take place in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The Gonzalez Center is in the heart of the downtown district alongside the city’s famous River Walk. Located less than two blocks from the Gonzalez Convention Center, the Hyatt Regency will be our official show hotel. The property overlooks the San Antonio skyline and offers the height of Texas hospitality. Right outside its doors you’ll find a large variety of restaurants, bars, clubs, shops and tourist attractions. The Hyatt’s amenities include a fitness center, spa, barbecue restaurant and sports lounge.

If minutes don’t matter, you can register the slow way by filling out the registration form found at the back of this show announcement and faxing it, or finding a stamp and an envelope and mailing it to RJO.

YOUR ROOM WILL BE COMPEDRJO will pay up to three nights’ accommodations for all qualifying members staying in the RJO room block of the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk. A rate of $189 plus taxes and fees per night will apply to stays longer than the three nights during the show and to non-qualifying members. This complimentary room incentive does not include suite upgrades or additional room occupants.

CANCELLATION NOTICEIf you have registered for the show and find that you are unable to attend, you must notify RJO no later than January 16 to avoid event charges. Also notify RJO at least five business days prior to the show if you are unable to attend any of the events you’ve registered for, yet still intend to attend the show.

Hotel cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to your scheduled arrival. Paid RJO excursions must be cancelled before January 3, 2015.

PHOTO IDs ARE REQUIRED FOR EVERYONE ENTERING THE SHOWROOMTo ensure the safety of all of our members and vendors, we require a photo ID and business card upon registration check-in. Both items must be presented to receive your badge for access to the show floor.

Be prepared for a wonderful night deep in the heart of San Antonio. We’ll be out to capture the essence of the city at our Sunday Evening Gala. Our biggest round-up of RJO Round-Up promises to be a night of good times for everyone.

Of course, we have to build slowly, so the evening begins with a country-chic cocktail reception, followed by our traditional group dinner. After dessert is finished, enjoy the ambiance of the hotel ballroom, which will be transformed into a microcosm of San Antonio.

It’s there where the real fun begins with classic Texas traditions and a Wild West photo booth replete with hay bales, costumes and props. Test your ranch hand skills in lassoing a life-sized bull’s head. Play a super-sized game of Jenga, or join in the other activities around the ballroom.

And it wouldn’t be a party without a wild Texas band winding everyone up, so we’ve lined up a great one. If they make you want to do a little Texas-style boogying you’ll be in luck: country dance instructors will be on hand for lessons! Your specific voucher percentage – up to an additional 2 percent off each purchase – will be based on your store’s 2014 RJO purchase total. In this session, he is prepared to drill down on better jewelry photography for those who use visuals regularly, whether for ecommerce, for appraisal purposes should an item need to be replaced, for posting engaging photos on your social media sites, for building a portfolio of your designs from which to sell your custom work, or for helping clients make design and purchasing decisions by cell.

10:30 – 11:20 a.m.Facebook and Pinterest: How You Can Brand Yourself as Bridal Experts and Reach Your Customers

Kelly Williams, the winner of the 2013 Instore Bench Pressure Challenge, began to work out of her own studio instead of working at the bench of an employer because she was willing to spend the dollars necessary to have the right bench tools with which she can do incredible, exquisite work efficiently, accurately and safely. Having the right tools and the ability to sharpen and maintain them correctly really sets a bench jeweler apart from other jewelers. “They make you a better goldsmith,” she says. To win the Bench Pressure Challenge, one of her key strategies was to choose the right tools and the tools to maintain them. To engrave, for example, she needed the right gravers and the right diamond sprays. Kelly advocates increasing professionalism for bench jewelers, and she frankly admits a pleasure and delight in tools that only other bench jewelers can understand.

EXECUTIVE SEGWAY TOURIf you’re looking for a unique walking tour of San Antonio, this is it – except there’s little walking required. Instead, you’ll ride around on your very own Segway. This two-and-a-half hour tour promises to be as informative as it is fun. You’ll roll down historic Houston Street, past the Alamo, HemisFair Park, the Alamodome and many more attractions.

Because of the Segways there are restrictions, such as being 14 years old or older, weigh at least 100 pounds yet not exceed 275. They discourage pregnant tourists from participating, and warn that unassisted stair-climbing will be part of the tour. A waiver will be required.
