The InstituteRaj Kumar Goel Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad, (RKGIT) was established in September 2000, by the Founder Chairman, the late Shri Raj
Kumar Goel, an industrialist and a philanthropist and above al,l a great visionary. Later on, six more institutes were added including Raj Kumar
Goel Engineering College, Pilakhuwa, Ghaziabad (RKGEC) and Raj Kumar Goel Institute of Technology for Women, Ghaziabad (RKGITW) in
2007 and 2008, respectively.
With a sprawling campus of more than 27 acres, RKGIT is located in the NCR on NH-58, only 5 km from GT Road. The campus is meticulously
planned in a number of functional building blocks separated by lush green lawns that leave a visitor spellbound. The campus has been
aesthetically designed as a pollution free complex and has become a self-contained academic township including hostels and guest house.
All the basic amenities, like electricity, round the clock power-back-up, safe drinking water, ATM, communication and first aid facilities are
available within the campus. The Institute has a fleet of buses in the service of the students located in and around Ghaziabad. The academic

Hobby council of RKGIT holds an annual event called Jagriti. It includes a number of events in which
about 3500-4000 students from the engineering colleges of Jaipur, Mathura, Aligarh, Bareilly and
NCR region participated.
An all terrain four wheeler built by five ME students using a 100 cc engine. It has a chain drive
connected to a differential gear system for rear wheel drive. Specially designed suspension system
gives a comfortable ride on all kinds of terrain including marshy land.

KNOWN until now as the crime city. Ghaziabad is fast earning
fame in the fieldof education and information technologythese
days, A major credit for this goes to young minds like Vipin
Kumar, who is a student of Raj KumarGoyal Institute of
Technology in Guldhar, near Meerut Road. Vipin has added
lustre to teh image of the district by assembling a
supercomputer. Vipin, who is studying B.Tech Computer
Science, took up th echallenge to build a computer whih will be
equal to a supercomputer in speed. Recently. Santosh Kumar
Yadav (DM) admired Vipin's project and said that he would inform the technology ministry about it. The
computer will not only be as fast, but will also allow multiples users towork on it simultaneously. Vipin built this mamoth
gadget by making a compound of 30 ordinary computers through available technology and software. He claims that
though it will be as fast as a supercomputer, it will cost much less. The cost of a super computer is Rs. 30-40 lakhs, while
the cost of computer assembled by him will be around Rs. 8 lakhs.

Super Computer Model
A Super Computer Model on cluster technology was designed and built by
Vipin Kumar, a student of final year B Tech Computer Science in 2005. The
working of the model was demonstrated to a number of experts-who
appreciated the brilliance of the concept. The District Magistrate, Ghaziabad
honoured him for his achievement.
Mr. Vipin is now working with Alcatel Lucent Bangaluru as a Project Leader.
Joining a Broken Turbine Rotor
The rotor shaft of a 2.5 MW, 8300 rpm, back-pressure steam turbine
broke down after a decade of satisfactory performance. The location of
failure and a part of the broken portion of the rotor are shown in the
photographs below. Labyrinths and bearing got shattered and flew
away; casing was severely damaged. The turbine discs, steam inlet side
of rotor and nozzles had only minor damages.
Such failures are generally rare; and generally, in such cases, the
turbines are scrapped. However, the owner in this case decided to get it
repaired and put it back in service within a short period of two weeks.
The failure analysis, design of joining the broken halves and joining
strategy was worked out by Dr. B.K. Gupta and the manufacturing,
erection and commissioning was successfully carried out by VVVK
Engineers Pvt. Ltd. within the stipulated time frame.
Apparatus and method for controlled environment agriculture or
hydroponics agriculture (Dr. B.K. Gupta, Mr. Subodh Kumar and Prof.
Meenakshi Bajpai)
India faces an acute shortage of green fodder which is important for cattle
rearing. With a growing population, diversion of grain producing farmland for
fodder is hardly possible. Even the wheat straw fodder (bhusa) is prohibitively
expensive in several parts of the country. Hydroponically grown greens are
being considered as an alternative. However, the required environment inside
the chamber is very conducive to the growth of fungi which prevent
