Our students are learning to work independently and make their own informed decisions by utilising careful guidance and target-driven assessment by their teachers.Parents are regularly informed about their child's progress as we report upon achievement, behaviour for learning and commitment to learning each term. This information is provided in the form of student monitoring reports and the annual student review. Our curriculum is taught with subjects sharing a thematic approach to learning so that our pupils are able to make connections between different disciplines and think widely about topics such as 'the wider world' and 'responsibility'. Thus, pupils progress into next stage with the confidence to make decisions and think critically and independently – key requirements for examination success!

“We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself.”

Positive DisciplineAt happy world we aim to create an environment where all young people feel valued and part of a working environment, which is positive and productive. We aim to do this primarily by creating a culture of praise. We believe young people should be rewarded for good behavior, effort and work. This will be done informally and frequently through teacher praise both oral and written and through displays of pupil work. We also believe it is important that young people at happy world know clearly the high expectations we have of that behavior. This is embodied in a code of conduct, “ALERT” which is displayed in every classroom. This is an attempt to ensure that we deal, fairly, consistently and clearly with young people. All levels, after a verbal warning and movement within a class, are linked to letters, which inform the parent, or career of the action the school is taking. This is a real attempt to ensure that there is an active partnership between the school and parents to support the young person to more positive behavior.
