To catch eye disease early, all adults should have a baseline eye diseasescreening by age 40, when early signs of eye disease may start to appear.Comprehensive eye exams may detect age­related macular degeneration,glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and more. Some people may be at greater risk for eye disease and require more frequenteye exams. Common risk factors include:

This panel took place during the annual meeting of theAmerican Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) in New Orleans,LA.
