Articulation Program for Registered Nurses The College of Nursing and Allied Health at Northwestern State University (NSU) offers an individualized plan to assist registered nurses who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN). This individualized plan of learning has been developed to offer flexibility to meet the registered nurse students’ needs. The student has the opportunity to earn credit without enrollment in 31 hours of nursing courses. Purpose The purpose of the articulation plan with the College of Nursing and Allied Health is to facilitate the upward progression of students in undergraduate nursing curricula and provide a foundation for graduate education. Graduates of the baccalaureate in nursing program are prepared to function in the following areas: 1. Provider of direct and indirect care to individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations 2. Designer, manager, and coordinator of care 3. Member of a profession Timeline This individualized plan of learning offers the opportunity for the student to complete upper division nursing courses within one calendar year after the completion of required general academic courses. Tuition Students who live outside the state of Louisiana and who do not take any on-campus (face-to-face) courses at NSU are not charged out of state fees. Current information about NSU Tuition and Fees may be found at registrar.nsula.edu/tuition-and-fees/. Learning Options Internet Northwestern State University is recognized as an innovator in online education and leader in providing online support to students. All nursing courses are offered via the Internet. Attendance on campus is NOT required. Clinical requirements can be completed in the student’s home community. Online nursing courses are offered in 8 week sessions. Traditional Classroom Setting The campus located in Alexandria, Louisiana offers traditional classes during the day. Enrollment in RN–BSN Nursing CoursesStudents must meet the following minimum criteria for enrollment in RN to BSN nursing courses.

1. Admission to the University and submission of all official transcripts to the Office of the Registrar on the Natchitoches campus.

2. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above.

3. A minimum grade of “C” in all required zoology, microbiology, chemistry, math and nursing courses.

4. Current unencumbered RN license to practice in the state in which clinical experiences will be completed.

As validation of knowledge and skills, all prospective students must be actively involved in nursing practice and possess a current unencumbered license to practice nursing (RN), CPR certification, and personal professional liability insurance when enrolled in clinical courses.
