Road markings have the same force of law as signs or traffic signals.

There are fourteen different road marks that a driver needs to know in order to be a safe and precautious driver.

A. Yellow Center Lines

1. Separate traffic flow going in opposite directions

L. Solid Line

2. On a motorist’s side of the center line means do not pass

M. Edge Lines

3. Separate the shoulder from the travel lane and show the edges of highways

J. White Stop Lines

4. Show where to stop at stop signs or traffic signals

5. Separate traffic going the same way when there is more than one lane; show edges of the road
