KAYAD Consulting Engineers was founded in December 1983, in Cape Town, as a Civil Engineering Consulting Company with the aim of providing a comprehensive service in the field of civil and township engineering. The firm extended its arms of operation and its Client base grew to include National, Provincial, Metropolitan and District Council Authorities in the public sector. In January 2010 Kayad merged with Knight Piesold, an international player in the professional consulting world. Kayad Knight Piesold Consulting is responsible for servicing clients of the merged firm in the Western and Northern Cape.
The Knight Piesold group has a total staff compliment of over 900 staff members located in 22 offices in six countries throughout the globe. Kayad Knight Piesold Consulting employs over 25 staff members in the Cape Town office and three field offices in the Western Cape. Historically disadvantaged individuals constitute 70% of the staff compliment and 86% of the shareholding component is BEE.
