".... Robert Lindquist has all the attributes that go into making music that is pleasing to the senses and with enough depth to make the experience quite a positive one. Lindquist has an ear for melody, but he also instills a tensile and sinew that make the tunes pliant and primed for improvisation."

--quotes from "All About Jazz"

review done by Jerry D'Souza--

"...Robert Lindquist has taken the middle course on 'Old Roads… New Paths', with eminently satisfying results…There’s ample passion here, but there’s also more than a little precision…Like the title says, 'Old Roads… New Paths' goes where many others have gone before. However, just like in life, it’s the journey, not the destination, and Robert Lindquist is a tour guide who knows some short cuts and back roads that make the trip worthwhile…" -- quotes from "albanyjazz.com, review done by J.Hunter

"From Scratch", the current release from New Regime, is an excellent cd. It surpasses the vast majority of cds I review. In fact, it is one of the best that I have reviewed this year…The members of New Regime are clearly fine musicians. Eric Walentowicz and Rob Lindquist, Co-Leaders of the band, are exceptional craftsmen on their respective axes… Rob has a deft touch on his keyboards and displays sensitivity ("With Regret") and forcefulness ("Plum Rating") where appropriate… I particularly dig his incorporation of the "Fender sound" on many tracks…a vestige of the early to mid 70's. Take a listen to Rob, it is clearly back and sounding better than ever. --Bill McCann 90.9 FM, WCDB, Albany Jazz Director and Host of

"The Saturday Morning Edition of Jazz" best in jazz, Since 1985.

“GIVE THE LOCALS MORE LOVE: As in the past, the opening set lasted only 45 minutes… while it's great Albany Riverfront traditionally saves a space for local artists, it would be even better if those artists got at least an hour, like the national acts they precede. It's sort of a gyp to bring in rich, insightful bands to kick things off, and then pull the plug just as they're clearing their throats. … New Regime's list of musical influences. Basically, it includes every genre except Klezmer… delivering a searing set of soul-funk jazz straight out of the Creed Taylor playbook….New Regime's cover of Turrentine's “Sugar” was dead-on, but originals by Walentowicz and keyboardist Rob Lindquist went for your mojo as well as your head. These guys were making friends and influencing people, and they deserved a longer set…” -- J. Hunter reviewer for the “metroland”magazine!

“ This is a great sounding Album sonically and musically, i find myself listening to it alot. Being a pianist myself I found his sense of swing really interesting, almost bebop but modern at the same time. His tunes consist of fairly simple and catchy melodies, but the harmonic ideas are quite advanced and cleverly weaved together. Great work Rob!” –Keith Davitts (Musician, Educator) “ I recently came across their website (www.newregimeband.com) which directed me here; I have to say these guys not only know how to play well but their tunes are equally "tight and fresh". I especially enjoyed the funky "Dr. J". Besides, there is enough for everyone on this album, a little jazz, funk, latin. New Regime, is tight and deserves to be heard!” Terry Whitbeck- purchaser(New Regime Cd), Musician, NY/NY

"Robert Lindquist …has ventured out, not only as prominent jazz musician in his area but in other regions… with many different groups and can be found performing in many styles of music including, rock, funk, fusion, ECM-Jazz, classical, etc. Robert has a very unique style of playing and writing, with hints of his influences-Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and Keith Jarrett to name a few. Even though, his predecessors are noticeable in his playing and writing, in many ways Rob's tunes and style are very much his … the original work culminating with highly interesting, energetic and even heartfelt moments. Rob is joined here with the top players from Albany,NY and NY,NY. I would encourage anyone who loves traditional- modern -Jazz Piano (with a twist) and general solid playing to check this out. " - Rich Monty- jazz pianist/educator - NY,NY
