As a young girl fashion became a way for me to step out of my comfort zone and let others see who I am underneath my shell. I am creative, inventive and very enthusiastic about sharing my fashion with the world. As I reach the end of my college career and move forward I hope to have a career in fashion merchandising as a buyer, for a well-known brand. My work encompasses the concepts of fashion trends & consumer demands within the retail business. Understanding a retailer’s target or niche market helps to develop a plan to enhance the retailer’s profit. Previously, I have constructed several elements such as a floor plan, & a budget in which I used to purchase clothing that I believe will increase sales for a boutique in Westwood, CA. These components I feel, will create a more fun and exciting shopping experience for consumers. This boutique caters to young teen & adult women with affordable high quality selections. Using my knowledge of trends and taking into consideration the market in which the boutique caters to, I looked for clothing that will ultimately increase sales.

The Power Suit The power suit originally got its
start in the 70’s. This is exactly what I’ve seen with upcoming fall/winter
2019 fashions. The 70’s are officially making a come back!
Sharp shoulders, belted, and Saville row style tailoring make up the new power suiting for fall. Suits with a
cinched in waist is also something to look forward to accessorized with heavy chain belts. Another nod to
the 70’s in upcoming fashion trends is color! On the runways I’ve seen lots of bright neon colors making a
comeback.

My product development project was based around the boutique Francesca’s. This is a very popular boutique
among young women. For this project I decided to use various methods (research & visual merchandising) to
enhance the brand even further. Research was done to develop a market analysis, budget, inventory list and
floor plan that will be effective in increasing sales for the boutique. (Francesca’s) A market analysis was
created as a part of the buying process, to explain who and what I’m buying for, & through my research
making sure this information is accurate. Establish a floor plan based on my knowledge of the boutique and
research to increase sales. Throughout this project I’ve used a combination of my visual merchandising skills
(floor plans and style pages) and research (market analysis, budget, and inventory list) to create what I believe
will help the boutique thrive.

Target Market Gender: Female Francesca’s clothing & accessories are made for young women between the ages 15-25 (young teens and adults from high school to college) Francesca’s clothes are modern, chic with sophistication. Women shopping at Francesca’s want quality clothing, bold accessories and modern fashions. She embodies sophistication & style. She sometimes likes to wear bold patterns & prints but she also likes to stick to the basics occasionally.

There are plenty of great pieces of clothing out there in donation centers, or other resell shops that many people may not know how to discover. platform for our secondhand boutique. Each piece of clothing that’s for sell is
merchandised in a flat lay style. This is done to provide the customer with ideas
of how to wear the item being sold but to also create an overall mood, that goes
along with our clothing.
