Hi!

I’m SO glad you’ve signed up for this September’s Rock Solid weekend

away. It’s going to be LOADS of fun, and I’m really glad you’re going to

be there.

At the start of September we’ll send you a kit-list, so you know what to

bring with you, and a map of how to get to the Westbrook Centre.

Along with this letter there are a couple of forms that you will need to

get a parent/guardian to fill in and sign, then post back to us in the

envelope provided. It’s probably a good idea to get this done soon, so you

don’t forget!!

At the moment we’ve got a handful of spare places still not booked up, so

we’ve also send you a couple of spare forms…if you’ve got any friends who

you think would be up for a crazy weekend of Rock-Solid style fun, why

not explain to them what Rock Solid is all about, and invite them along?

(They can ignore the 20th July deadline now – we’ll just give out the last

few places on a first-come, first-served basis.)

The weekend away will be run at the Westbrook Urban Saints Centre in Ryde

(www.westbrookcentre.org.uk). The programme for the weekend will

involve on-site activities provided by the Centre, such as swimming,

sports, an assault course, golf, and a games-room. We will also be

running wide-games outdoors and some Rock-Sold style sessions of

games and talks.

Hi there,

Hope you’ve had a great summer – we just wanted to let you know some more

details about the Rock Solid weekend away that’s coming up really soon…

So…here goes; Don’t forget that the weekend’s gonna be loads of fun, with lots of crazy silliness. We’ll be making use of Westbrook’s swimming pool,

volleyball courts, games room and golf course, and there’ll be loads of

opportunities to catch up with mates from Rock Solid, as well as making new

friends with people from your new High School. The fun begins on Friday

11th September at 5pm. The first thing we’ll be doing is having dinner, so

you don’t need to have eaten before you arrive. You’ll need to arrange to be picked up at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

We’ve enclosed a Kit List of things to bring – please note the info about

bedding, which you’ll need to bring with you, and about indoor/outdoor shoes.

If someone needs to get in touch with you during the weekend, they could call

the Westbrook Centre office, on 01983 811118, or they could call Dave’s

mobile 07817410298. Dave Burton is one of the leaders of YFC and will be on

site all weekend. (You can also give him a call now if your parents have any

questions about the weekend.)

If there is also a medical/consent form enclosed with this letter, then it

means that you haven’t sent one back to us yet, and we need to have it for you

to be able to come on the weekend. Please could you get a parent/guardian to

fill it in and post it back to us as soon as possible. Thanks

Rock Solid W/end Kit-List

� Sunglasses & Sun-Cream (just in case it’s amazingly sunny)

� Bedding: You need to bring;

� a single duvet cover,

� a fitted single sheet and

� a pillowcase

� Swimming stuff;

� Swimming costume

� Towel

� A bed-time story book

� Wash-Kit & Towel

� Wet weather stuff (just in case it’s throwing it down with rain!)

� Some outdoor shoes (that might get muddy)

� Some indoor shoes (that are clean and comfy, that you can change

into after playing any games in which your other, outdoor, shoes

may have got slightly muddy!!)

� A torch (for running around in the dark)

� Spending money (for the tuck-shop)

� If you want to, a Bible, notebook & pen

� You’re welcome to bring a mobile phone with you, but we’ll be

collecting them all up each evening and hanging on to them

overnight (to help you sleep!!)
